The mind is an amazing thing. It's really interesting how much the mind plays a role in the things that we do. I used to go to this gym and the owner of the gym would always say "Get Your Mind Right!" If you think about it-if your mind is not right then what you are needing to do probably won't get done. If you are trying to organize your home (office, closet, bathroom, etc) if you do not have your mind in that mode it probably won't get done. You need to "de-clutter your mind." Here are some steps to help de-clutter your mind and get your focus back.
Create lists-I am a visual person and so when I am thinking about what I need to do for the day or if I am on the phone with a client discussing their projects I have to make notes or lists. It helps to compartmentalize in your brain what needs to be done. These lists can be done on paper or automated. I tend to put a lot of lists/reminders on my phone.
Try to clean up areas that "sore spots" for you. Like maybe go into your inbox and clear out some of those old emails or unsubscribe to those emails you don't want to receive anymore. Do some spring cleaning.
Remember that your state of mind is intertwined with your quality of work and even with your relaxation. Take some deep breathes-do some spring cleaning and clear your mind.
