48% of SC residents are still not vaccinated and nearly 100 more deaths were reported Friday from Covid. Most of these deaths were preventable if the individuals had gotten the vaccine.

Our leadership in South Carolina has failed miserably. Currently, South Carolina is 41st in Vaccination Rate and third in the nation for COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people over the last seven days.

Recently, we attended an out door music festival that required proof of vaccination or proof of a negative Covid test. Despite being ranked near the bottom nationally for his Covid response, South Carolina Govenrnor McMaster said that he would fight the court overturning the law he helped enact that keeps South Carolina school districts from implementing mask mandates in their schools. In a short question and snswer session, McMaster was asked for hos reaction to the court ruling and indicated that he was willing to fight the decision “All the way to the Supreme Court”.

- Second highest number of Cumulative COVID-19 Cases per 100,000 Children with a rate that is almost double the national average of 7607 per 100,000
- SC is 41st in vaccination rate
- SC has 4th Highest Rate of COVID-19 cases in the United States per capita
- SC rated 46th Safest State Based on Covid Measures

Henry McMaster continues to defy the obvious reality that South Carolina is failing in it’s response:

“I think it’s working well, ” McMaster said of the state’s response. “But I urge everyone to inform themselves on the danger involved in this virus and what might be the next virus and determine what they are going to do to keep themselves and their families safe. In the end, it is an individual decision to be made and we respect that.”

If McMaster defines success by continually placing South Carolina at the bottom, it is time for him to go.
