The Ethical Decline within the Saratoga Springs Democratic Party

Last Wednesday, Saratoga BLM organized a gathering purportedly as a rally for Palestine. Co-sponsors of the event included groups like the Skidmore College Coalition for Palestine and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, who authored an article titled “How the U.S. helped Israel promote the ‘Hamas mass rape’ lie…”

However, as is often the case with events associated with Saratoga BLM, what began as a peaceful gathering swiftly devolved into a hateful diatribe against law enforcement, the Jewish community, meritocracy, and Western civilization. Protesters marched along Broadway, chanting slogans such as “Globalize the Intifada,” “From the River to the Sea,” and “SSPD KKK.”

That evening, the Saratoga Springs Republican Party promptly condemned the rally, expressing sorrow over the anti-Semitic rhetoric and violent threats made. Conversely, the Saratoga Springs Democrats opted for a different approach. Their response came in the form of a post the following day, stating they "support the right to peaceful protest that does not target or threaten individual groups…”. We too, as well as most Americans support the 1st amendment right to freely spew bigotry and hatred, but we also support the first amendment right to call it out when we see it.

Herein lies the issue: this was hate speech aimed at a specific group. The United Jewish Federation swiftly condemned the rally as anti-Semitic, asserting that slogans like “Globalizing the intifada” can be interpreted as a call for worldwide violence against Jews, similar to the tragic events of October 7th.

One might question whether the actions of the local Democratic Committee should come as a surprise. This is a committee that appears to hold in high regard a radical fringe group that denigrates many aspects that make our community special. From hurling racial epithets at black clergy to baselessly accusing the SSPD of being raciest murders, to disrupting our city council meetings, the fringe group Saratoga BLM has regrettably become as entrenched in our politics as conservative or liberal ideologies.

This is largely due to the Saratoga Springs Democrats' failure to denounce such actions, opting instead to fraternize with the leaders over lavish lunches funded by taxpayers' dollars.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!
Welcome to Saratoga & Siro's Restaurant Chef Noah Frese!

Who is Chef Noah Frese?
Chef Noah Frese, a 2nd generation Chef from Albany, New York, fell in love with cooking at an early age, and knew he wanted to be a Chef at just 12 years old. Noah started his career after high school when he moved to Manhattan, and put himself through The International Culinary Center where he learned Classic French cuisine. Noah continued to learn and gain experience while under Master Chef, Daniel Boulud. He was able to take his knowledge down to Charlotte, North Carolina where he became the Head Chef for Barcelona Wine Bar, where he learned to master a Tapas style menu. Chef Noah was the Sous Chef at 677 Prime before taking on his newest job as the Executive Chef at The Roosevelt Room in East Greenbush, NY. It is here that he is able to showcase his knowledge and unique cooking style while bringing a new Fine dining experience into The Capital Region. In his first year at the Roosevelt Room, Chef Noah won the Rising Star Chef Competition and also took first place at the 2023 Albany Boys and Girls Club’s Great Future Gala . Chef Noah will be bringing his Culinary creativity and experience to the Famous Siro’s Restaurant, Saratoga Springs starting with the Raw Bar Menu for the Belmont Stakes Racing Event this June, and will continue through the 2024 Saratoga Race Course season as Executive Chef of Siro's Restaurant.

Menus and more information will be announced as available.

Welcome to the "Spaaaaaaaaahhhh" Chef- we are excited to have you !

There was a 3 car accident yesterday on the corner of Church and Woodlawn (in front of Cointey Corner). One driver was transported to Saratoga Hospital via ambulance for observation. A Good Samaritan stayed with a mother and her 3 year old daughter until helped arrived. SSPD and SSFD prompltly arrived, went to work and were the consummate professionals. What a wonderful city we live in.

Logan Spring we see that you have created a copycat Facebook WGOS group. We hope you thought the original group “What’s Going on Saratoga” was purposely taken down. You saw a void and decided to do what we did 10 years ago and create an open online community forum.

We are here to tell you this is not the case. The old group has been temporarily de-activated by Facebook. We are appealing the ruling and hope for a positive outcome.

We want to extend a friendly request in that you remove your group from Facebook. We believe that keeping your group active would not only be immoral, and lacking of integrity and decency, it also would violate copyright laws.

We hope this can be resolved amlicably.

Facebook has unilaterally taken action to (hopefully) temporarily disable the group known as "What’s Going on Saratoga." This incident underscores the concerning influence of big tech in censoring free speech. Over the span of a decade, I dedicated myself to building, moderating, and nurturing this group into an inclusive public forum—a digital town square where individuals of all backgrounds, ideologies, and beliefs could freely express themselves. The group facilitated not only political discourse but also served as a platform for local businesses to promote themselves for community members to seek and offer assistance, advice, and recommendations, and a platform to quickly disseminate vital information.

Now, it seems a new iteration of "What’s Going on Saratoga" has emerged, spearheaded by political zealots . I issue a cautionary message to the residents of Saratoga Springs: while this new group may outwardly resemble the original in structure and principles, its intentions are markedly different. It is poised to become a partisan tool for driving political agendas and shaping the narrative of our city.

Amidst potential copyright infringements, I will take the necessary time to deliberate on the appropriate course of action. For updates, please follow WGOS News, maintain a critical mindset, and continue to stay charming Saratoga. Please like WGOS News and share for updates!
