Ten years ago tonight, Purcell High School Football and Lexington faced off in the annual "Battle of the Bridge."

The rivalry's name comes from the fact that the two schools, roughly three miles apart from each other, are separated by the James C. Nance Bridge.

Both teams entered with a 2-0 record, thanks to their tough defenses, with Purcell having outscored their opponents 72-13, Lexington 81-12. Purcell would come out on top 37-7.

Ten years ago today, Edmond North pulled off an upset victory against rival Edmond Santa Fe in the season opener. As Edmond North railed 24-21 all throughout the fourth quarter, running back Richard Mccauley would score with 40 seconds remaining, as the defense held on to give the Huskies the win.

Richard would go on to marry his high school sweetheart Brooklyn and they have a two year old son named Malachi.

On this day ten years ago, Edmond North had their home opener against rival, #7 ranked Edmond Santa Fe, with everybody Edmond Santa Fe would walk out victorious.

Edmond North trailed a total of three times, beginning with a 14-0 first quarter deficit, which was erased after quarterback Stephen McClernon connected with Anthony Belton, followed by lineman Austin Steward III recovering a fumble in the endzone by his teammate.

After a lot of back and forth in the second quarter, Edmond Santa Fe led 17-14 at halftime, and then would head into the fourth quarter ahead 24-21. For a while it seemed hopeless for Edmond North, until running back Richard McCauley punched it in from 1 yard out with 40 seconds remaining. The Huskies' defense would stand tall and pull off the upset victory.
