The Supreme Court decisions today will confound the lefts claim of right wing bias. The decisions were not ideological, but based on their view of the law. One decision had the 3 left leaning Judges joined by 3 right leaning Judges on the ruling. Look forward to the media coverage or lack thereof.
As I read through Kings the Lord would bless Israel, then the King would get prideful and turn away from God. Miracles happened and soon were forgotten. There is nothing new under the sun, and our nature hasn't changed, time to remember.
I went to the neighbor by our property, (homeless camp). It is cleaned up and he was grateful. He said that women in the camp were beaten and would call the fire department to get first aid, they sold m**h, one woman died, and the stench was terrible. Another neighbor gave them water, but didn't want them on his property. We don't help people by enabling bad behavior, we hurt them.
Jeff Hartman wrote in the Daily Star that President Biden enjoys a 49% lead with people that primarily get their news from newspapers and 20% lead with those that get their news from "mainstream" networks. He argues that these people are better educated, or are they more thoroughly indoctrinated?
It has been proposed in the past that Tucson Police Department merge with the Sheriff's department to become a Metro police department. This would eliminate the overlap, increase the number of officers per capita, and decrease overall costs. This could be an idea whose time has come.
When we moved here in '85 people used to joke about Marana, now Marana is no joke. Marana is attracting businesses, is a great community to raise your family and there is a great new church there! Calvary Marana
Tucson has a climate resiliency department. I believe in conserving water, reducing emissions and caring for our environment. But, our city is on fire with crime, homelessness and poverty and that should be our highest priority. Like Nero we are fiddling while we burn.
David Wayne Fitzsimmons made me laugh! He's writing a play to sound the alarm on climate change. We can do better as stewards, but it makes me laugh when they say we are in control. We are a spec in the universe controlled by the unseen hand of the Creator. The heat we should be concerned about is a nuclear bomb. We practiced when I was a kid for USSR launching a nuclear attack. That threat is greater today than then, from multiple players.
The President's speech was good. Tom Brokaw in "The Greatest Generation" profiled WW II heroes and the common thread was their faith in God and self sacrifice. I wish the President shared that, and also prepared us for sacrifice like JFK did when he said "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". We won't have peace until the Prince of peace comes.
Marvin Garness was my moms favorite cousin. He landed on Omaha Beach on D Day. He is buried in Normandy American Cemetery. As General Colin Powell said we have sent many men and women to fight for freedom overseas and "the only land we asked for in return is enough to bury our dead". I hope as a nation that we still have the resolve the Greatest Generation had.
In 1963 Rod Stewart was deported from Spain for vagrancy. Then he got to work and his career took off. If they would have allowed him to live on the streets we may not know his name. Tough love is a wakeup call that will really help those who are homeless.
One thing our son Peter Martin said in his Mother's Day sermon is that in our culture normal isn't "normal". Normal was the ideal whether with family, marriage, fatherhood, motherhood etc. Having an ideal to shoot for makes us better in sports, academics, career and in marriage, family and in our roles as men and women. Having role models and a goal is good and should be normal.
Words are powerful and as I have found in my career in advertising, it is the message that drives success, not the vehicle. The left has more creative people engaged, (actors, entertainers and writers), and craft messages better. A good message, like "hope and change", doesn't get analyzed it just "feels good". But, occasionally they "jump the shark" and miss the mark. In example "abortion care" is an oxymoron and I "hope" it "changes" minds and hearts.
We honor our daughter Kirsten Jimenez as our favorite nurse on nurses week! She finished her degree after her husband passed while raising five kids. She received the Daisy award for being an outstanding nurse. She's always been outstanding to us!
My grandkids say "drippin'" when they think som**hing is "cool". When I was young calling someone a "drip" was bad. We would say "a drip is a drop and a..." Can you finish this?
My grandson Ephraim Jimenez is pursuing a degree in engineering. He has finished his second year of college and has a 3.6 GPA. He would like a summer job where he could learn technical or engineering skills to augment his education. If you know somewhere he could apply message me. Thanks!
Their policies don't work, so this is their only issue. And Vice President Harris ended her speech with "God bless America". So since she brought it up, do you think God approves?
