The Mayor’s obituary. Never thought we’d ever have to say that.
Troy Don Allen, 51, a legend of the Smokies, known formally by his stage name of “Mayor T-Roy Allen, Mayor of Roadkill Holler, TN”, passed away Wednesday, April 13th, 2022 at a local hospital with those he loved most by his side. To know the Mayor was to love him, he was truly one of a kind.
The Mayor was born March 4th, 1971 to Don “Possum” Forbes & the late Susan “The Warden” Hensley in Mitchell, Indiana. The family moved to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1986 and the Mayor graduated from Seabreeze High School, Class of 1990. The Mayor was also an auctioneer having attended the Reppert School of Auctioneering, 229th Graduating Class. He was currently employed at the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home as a Caregiver/House Parent, helping troubled young men find their way in life. He was also an Ordained Minister.
Troy was an avid sportsman. After a career as a semi-professional football player, he spent his retirement years owning & operating “Big Daddy Sports” in Mitchell, Indiana as well as coaching many men’s and women’s football, baseball, & basketball teams.
On January 3rd, 2018, Troy took the oath of office to become the first Mayor of Roadkill Holler, a position he held until his passing. Using the microphone that came with the office, the Mayor began to fill our timelines with short stories and outright tall tales that were sure to leave us smiling. That is what the Mayor lived to do, in a world filled with pain & sorrow he lived to make us smile. When someone told him he couldn’t write a book, he set out to prove them wrong. He published his best-selling composition of short stories entitled, “Stories of Life in Road Kill Holler, TN” on March 17th, 2018.
The Mayor is survived by his sweet “Maggie Rose”, Margaret Brewer of Sevierville. The apples of his eye, his son Eezekial “Zeke” Allen & his daughter Kortni Allen both of Bedford, Indiana. His brothers, Sam Higgs, his wife Katie & their son Keadan & daughter Sierra of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania & Joe Higgs of Mitchell, Indiana. His sister, Kaylee Hensley of Sevierville, TN. His beloved step-father, Don “Possum” Forbes also of Indiana. Many special friends also survive, he loved every person he ever met.
A Virtual Funeral Service will be held on the “Life in Roadkill Holler Tn.” page on Thursday April 21st, 2022 at 8PM (Eastern) / 7PM (Central) with the Mayor’s dear friend Caleb N. Taylor of Caleb’s World officiating.
