Cybersecurity Alert for New Content Creators! 🚨
Building a social media following is challenging, whether you're into game streaming, running a YouTube channel, or growing on Facebook. Scammers know this and often target your desire for success with fake offers to "help."
Here’s a classic scam: someone posing as a well-known creator offers to boost your channel or make you a brand ambassador. They may say, "We love your look and want you to promote our product," or offer "special links" to help grow your channel. These are often ploys to get your money or steal your information.
People and brands come to them, not looking for small channels/followers. Cinderella offers are just chum in the water.
Remember, genuine creators (Like Coney - A really well-known gamer) and reputable brands will never contact you out of the blue with unsolicited offers. It’s easier and more legitimate for them to use targeted ads to reach their audience and sell this information at a price. This business is like any other investment—if you're truly worth sponsoring, they'll see the value in partnering with someone with a strong following. If you don’t have at least half the following they do, it’s unlikely they’d take the risk.
Always stay vigilant, question unexpected offers, and protect yourself from scams. Don’t let anyone take advantage of your hard work and ambitions! Stop, Think, Research, Stop, and think again. Always ask yourself, "Is this a scam? Is my Ego that big? Am I that desperate?"
Stay safe and secure your accounts! 🛡️
🤜Pro Tip: On Discord, look at the account creation date. Fake accounts are young accounts; look at the original account name. See the last screenshot as an example.
Oh BTW, If the real Coney still wants me involved in one of your projects, my email address is all over my accounts, and my offer stands. Prove it is you by posting a short on your YouTube Channel. Call out my Channel's name.
