It was truly a pleasure having a Shirzan like Dr. Azadeh Khatibi on our guest on AWESOME People.

How many people do you know that are a Doctor, Actor, Filmmaker, Author, Mother and successfully suing the state of California in not just one but two lawsuits regarding first amendment rights violations of physicians?

Oh yea, she also named an eye disease.

This was by far one of my favorite AWESOME People conversations because it’s a testament to the power of purpose that is inside all of us, BUT there are a select few that go above and beyond to turn that purpose into impact and this is one of those individuals.

Dr. Khatibi is a part of that minority and she is here to encourage you to bring out the best in YOU!

Dr. Khatibi is a fellowship-trained and board-certified ophthalmologist. She was a Regent’s Scholar at UCLA and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Highest Departmental Honors in Molecular, Cell, Developmental Biology.

She began her career as an actor while simultaneously pursuing studies at one of the top medical schools in the country, UCSF, in the Joint Medical Program, which only accepted 12 people per year.

She also got her Master’s in Public Health and a master’s in Health & Medical Sciences, both from UC Berkeley. She completed internal medicine internship and residency at UC, Irvine, where she was chosen chief resident. She finished vitreo-retinal medicine and surgery at UC San Diego.

Exactly on week ago today between 1:11pm - 1:11am we had the pleasure of presenting the inaugural Azadi Festival, which took place at Shipgarten in Tysons, Virginia.

Darius is a Tech Entrepreneur, Best Selling Author, Inventor, Engineer, Business Coach, Speaker, Hiker, Harley rider, ex-soccer player, globetrotter, Khayyam fan, wine lover, and father of two adults who became successful on their own in their 20’s.

Donya came to the United States in 2007 as a religious refugee. As a member of the Baha'i faith, she personally experienced persecution in Iran.

Donya's passion for shedding light on the plight of religious minorities in Iran led her to create the short film "The Ticket," which received international acclaim and multiple awards. She also authored a memoir titled "Tehran to Miami," delving into the life experiences of the 1980s and 1990s generation in Iran, covering topics such as the Iran-Iraq war, the persecution of women and religious minorities.

Donya has been a consistent and prominent figure in local news, events, and protests as the delegate spokesperson for the Iranian American Community in Houston.

Additionally, for the past 6 months, Donya has served as the host of Radio 021, where she conducts interviews with Iranian speakers on various topics, primarily focusing on Iran's ongoing revolution.

Let’s be honest, we’re not ok!

In general, Iranian’s inside and out have been combatting the effects of generational trauma for 43 years as the result of the 1979 revolution.

More recently, as we were still trying to cope with and understand the impact that the pandemic had on our mental and physical state, the death of Mahsa Zhina Amini sparked the current revolution.

As a result, the past 10 weeks have been heartbreaking, traumatic and even anger-filled, all of which has taken millions of us on an emotional rollercoaster ride that is virtually impossible to get off.

Since the pandemic, if there was one calming voice that has done everything possible to guide us through these uncharted waters it has been Dr. Sameen Shaheem.

Today at 12pm EST I look forward to having a special 70 minute conversation to hopefully shed some light and hope in our lives.

For nearly 25 years, learning and development has been the main focus of Dr. Shaheem's career in a deep and deliberate manner, through the application of psychological and adult educational principles and practices.
