Ola Ray is an American former model and actress, best known for her role in Michael Jackson's iconic music video "Thriller." She was born on August 26, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ray's most notable moment came when she starred as Michael Jackson's love interest in the groundbreaking "Thriller" music video in 1983. This appearance skyrocketed her to fame and made her a recognizable face in pop culture. The video was a major success and played a significant role in shaping the music video industry.

Before her involvement in the "Thriller" video, Ola Ray had already established herself as a model. She appeared in several magazines and was featured as the Playmate of the Month in the June 1980 issue of Pl***oy magazine.

Despite the massive popularity of the "Thriller" video, Ray's acting career did not take off as expected. She appeared in a few movies and television shows, but her acting roles were limited. After her initial rise to fame, she faced personal and financial challenges.

In addition to her entertainment career, Ola Ray also had a brief music career. She released a single titled "Remember" in 1987, which received moderate attention.

In later years, Ray faced various legal and financial difficulties, including disputes over royalty payments related to the "Thriller" video.

While Ola Ray's career might not have reached the heights many anticipated after her "Thriller" appearance, she will forever be remembered as the leading lady in one of the most iconic music videos in history.

67 years ago today, October 3, 1955, Captain Kangaroo premiered. It aired weekday mornings on CBS for nearly 30 years, from October 3, 1955 until December 8, 1984, making it the longest-running nationally broadcast children's television program of its day. In 1986, the American Program Service (now American Public Television, Boston) integrated some newly produced segments into reruns of past episodes, distributing the newer version of the series until 1993.
The show was conceived and the title character played by Bob Keeshan, who based the show on "the warm relationship between grandparents and children". Keeshan had portrayed the original Clarabell the Clown on The Howdy Doody Show when it aired on NBC. Captain Kangaroo had a loose structure, built around life in the "Treasure House" (later known as "The Captain's Place") where the Captain (the name "kangaroo" came from the big pockets in his coat) would tell stories, meet guests, and indulge in silly stunts with regular characters, both humans and puppets. Keeshan performed as Captain Kangaroo more than 9000 times over the nearly 30 year run of the show.
The show was telecast live to the East Coast and the Midwest for its first four years and broadcast on kinescope for the West Coast, as Keeshan would not perform the show live three times a day, and was in black-and-white until 1967. The May 17, 1971 episode saw two major changes on the show: The Treasure House was renovated and renamed "The Captain's Place" and the Captain replaced his navy blue coat with a red coat. In September 1981, CBS shortened the hour-long show to a half-hour, briefly retitled it Wake Up with the Captain, and moved it to an earlier time slot; it was later moved to weekends in September 1982, and returned to an hour-long format. It was canceled by CBS at the end of 1984.

A Maasai man walks into a bank in NAIROBI and asks for the l0an officer. He tells the l0an officer that he is going to DUBAI on business for four weeks and needs to borrow 5,000.

The bank officer tells him that bank will need some form of security for the loan, so the maasai man hands over the keys to a brand new Mercedes Benz S class 500 parked on the street in front of the bank.

Produces the log book and everything checks out. The l0an officer agrees to accept the car as collateral for the l0an.

The bank's president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the maasai for using a KSH 15 Million Mercedes Benz as collateral against a 5,000 loan.

An employee of the bank then drives the Mercedes Benz into the bank's underground garage and parks it there. Four weeks later, the maasai returns, repays the 5,000 and the interest, which comes to 150.41.

The loan officer says :
'Sir, we are very happy to have had your business & this transaction has worked out very nicely but we are a little puzzled.

While you were away, we checked you out & found that you are a multi millionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow 5,000?'

The Masai man replies: 'Where else in NAIROBI can I park my car four weeks for only 150.41 and expect it to be there when I return?'
