Robinwood Drive will close over M-14 from Thursday, June 13, until mid- to late July.
Haggerty Road will have one lane open over M-14 from Thursday, June 13, until late July.
This three-year, $139 million investment includes rebuilding the freeway with new concrete pavement from Sheldon Road to Newburgh Road, including the ramps at the M-14/I-96/I-275 interchange. Additionally, the work will include maintenance on 17 bridges and the rebuilding of the I-275 Metro Trail along M-14 from Edward Hines Drive to I-275. Bridge work and shoulder widening will be happening throughout the summer, then next year eastbound M-14/I-96 will be rebuilt, followed by the westbound lanes in 2026.

Good news for Plymouth Township…
At their May 28 meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved moving forward on the design and construction phase of a new Fire Station to replace the current Station 2 in Lake Pointe, and a Resolution of Intent to Issue Bonds for the estimated $8.5 million project. The new facility is scheduled for a construction start in early 2025.
Memorial Day 2024: the Rock remembers.
A day to remember in Plymouth. After a nice parade down Main Street more than a 1,000 people filled Veterans Park to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This Memorial Day please remember that it is about more than family gatherings, a day off or bbqs - it's about the men and women who paid the price for our freedom.
It’s opening day!
Job well done!
Spring has arrived! Yesterday, Engine 1's crew rescued multiple baby ducks from a sewer in the Township's East End.

“…sometimes good law is just good common sense. I have tried to live that out. I am most proud that I have mostly succeeded in what I promised to do when I was sworn in. That’s to be fair and friendly.”

Some good news for Wilcox and Phoenix lakes.
Habitat improvements are coming soon to Wilcox and Phoenix Lake in City of Plymouth, Plymouth Township and Northville Township - Government! The Alliance of Rouge Communities (ARC) is excited for these projects in Wayne County Parks which will create and enhance habitat in and around each lake through placement of substrate used for fish spawning, shoreline stabilization, habitat structure installation, dredging (Wilcox Lake only), treatment and removal of invasive species, and native plantings. As temperatures improve, workers will mobilize to begin invasive species treatment and site preparation so that construction can begin this spring. This effort is part of the ARC's “Rouge River AOC Habitat Restoration - Wilcox/Phoenix Implementation” project funded by a grant from the U.S. EPA Region 5 (Great Lakes Region), Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (Grant # GL-00E03267-0). This is a sure sign of Spring!
I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty stressful opening this place up every year. Luckily Nick and I are fortunate enough to have two DK loyalists who while having graduated from college and have full-time jobs still love to put in a few hours every week here. It just so happens we’re lucky enough to have them for opening day. If you’ve been coming here for a while it’s safe to say they have served you…Makensie (L-10th year) and Ally (R-9th year) are ready to serve up your favorite tasty treat! With these girls and a veteran night shift opening day should be smooth sailing. Doors are now open. Noon to 9 PM daily until things warm up. Happy New Year everyone!

TAKING THE NEXT STEP Graduates earn their diplomas and begin down future paths Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Board of Education President Shawn Wilson watched as some 1,350 high school seniors accepted their diplomas on Sunday -- and felt one over-riding feeling. Pride. Members of the Class of 2023 from Canton, Salem and Plymouth high schools took the next – biggest? – steps in their lives during ceremonies at Eastern Michigan University’s Convocation Center earlier this month, with board members, faculty, parents, friends and family cheering them on. Those next steps will be in a variety of directions, including four-year colleges, community colleges and into the workforce. According to statistics provided by the district, nearly 800 graduating seniors are headed to four-year colleges or universities, while nearly 200 more are off to two-year colleges. Nearly 40 are headed to a trade or technical education, while another 60 plan on taking a “gap” year before making decisions. Another nine planned to join a branch of the military service “Being a part of such a momentous occasion for our graduates and their families is humbling,” Wilson said. “Seeing the tears and smiles and hearing the stories of growth, resilience and perseverance is a powerful reminder of why we serve as school board members. “I am so proud of all of the graduates.” -- By Brad Kadrich Here's a video of the Salem ceremony produced by photographer Bill Bresler.
There are some big plans afoot for Wilcox Lake near Plymouth's Old Village. Wayne County is planning a major restoration of the lake and the old mill will soon undergo a renovation similar to the Phoenix Lake Mill nearby. A group of local volunteers helped do their part to improve the lake by removing invasive vegetation that has impaired the shoreline. Photographer Bill Bresler was on hand during a recent work day and put together this video of their efforts. Look for a story in the June issue of The Rock - Plymouth's News & Lifestyle Magazine.

Here's a video of Plymouth High School's commencement from this morning, June 12. Traditionally held at EMU's Convocation Center, because of Covid-19 it was held at the P-CEP stadium. No air conditioning, but it was a good time anyway. See photos in the next edition of The Rock. Video by Bill Bresler
