The L in LinkedIn stands for LEAD GENERATING.

Kidding. But not really.

80% of my biggest clients have come from introductions on LinkedIn. Because people are there to do business.

Here’s the thing… it’s a very different platform than Instagram & Facebook.

LinkedIn is your opportunity to start conversation with lengthier, well thought-out, text-based pieces of content.

Yes, eye catching visuals STILL MATTER, but not quite as much as the text content of the post.

Here’s your roadmap to LinkedIn success! ⬇️

Step 1: Focus on Text-Based Content

Research indicates that text-based content is the most effective on LinkedIn. It encourages more conversations in the comment section, which is crucial for increasing dwell time on the platform.

Step 2: Start with a Blog Post

Begin by publishing a blog post on your website. This will be the original source of your content.

Step 3: Republish on LinkedIn

Wait two days after your initial blog post goes live, then republish the same content as an article directly on LinkedIn, rather than just posting a link.

Step 4: Signal to Google

By publishing on your website first and then on LinkedIn, you signal to Google that you are the original author, which helps drive search traffic back to your site.

Step 5: Include Visuals

When posting your article on LinkedIn, make sure to add an eye-catching graphic or photo. Visuals are essential because they grab the attention of users as they scroll through their feeds.

Step 6: Attract Initial Engagement

LinkedIn will initially expose your post to a small percentage of your followers. Focus on attracting comments and conversations within the first hour after posting.

Step 7: Boost Visibility

If your post garners engagement quickly, LinkedIn is more likely to show it to a broader audience, both within and beyond your follower base, expanding your reach.

This is the most impactful piece of marketing I've seen in a long time created by ad agency SMALL in New York for the charity CoorDown in Italy alongside various Down syndrome associations across the world.

When you really dive into the inspiration behind the campaign, it becomes even more so.

Its message echoes a speech by Marta Sodano, a 29-year-old Italian woman with Down syndrome, at the UN. She shared her school challenges, highlighting the concept of 'self-fulfilling prophecy' in psychology.

She explained, "I learned that in psychology, there's a concept known as 'self-fulfilling prophecy.' It's when a teacher believes that a student can't understand, so they behave accordingly and end up not teaching the student. And just like that: the prophecy fulfills itself."

I love seeing effective marketing being used not only to sell products, but to sell ideas that change the world for the better.

No matter what kind of business owner you are, keeping your audience informed, involved, interested, and inspired will always, always lead to the social media metrics you’re after.

Before you post, ask yourself.

Your fear of social media is backed by science.

It's more than just a psychological response & deeply rooted in the way our bodies are wired to react to perceived threats.

Yeah, it's that deep.

You know that sinking feeling of anxiety you feel before you post online? Yeah, that's the release of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, preparing your body to either face the unknown (fight) or avoid it altogether (flight).

When you sporadically post on social media, you're feeling a primal reaction that's designed to protect us from danger by preparing the body to either confront or flee from a threat.

But here's the deal.

The link between sporadic social media posting and the "fight or flight" response lies in the element of UNPREDICTABILITY & THE UNKNOWN. When social media isn't a regular part of your routine, your brain perceives it as an unknown and potentially risky activity.

This is why you need to make showing up on social media a consistent part of your daily actions.

You signal to your brain that it's a safe and familiar activity. This regularity helps to deactivate the "fight or flight" response, reducing feelings of fear and anxiety you associate with social media.

As your body and mind self-regulate and showing up online becomes part of your daily routine, you start on a pathway to "flow."

This is a state of complete immersion and focus in an activity, where all distractions and worries fade away and you're only focused on the task & the result.

When it comes to social media, entering this state of "flow" can make your marketing efforts feel more effortless and natural.

If you're still here, the key takeaway I want you to walk away with is that consistency is key.

By making social media a regular part of your routine, you can help to regulate your body's stress response and overcome the fear that may be holding you back.

Your business deserves your courage to show up online.

Start small. Social media compounds and so will your efforts, internally and online.

Building a business is not unrealistic, building it while remaining inside your comfort zone is.

I started this business my senior year of high school in 2017 and told everyone that was my plan to pay for college.

“You should bartend.” “Get a waitressing job.” “Don’t you think that’s irresponsible?”

Fast forward 7 years later. (That makes me feel old)

Yesterday I got to speak to a room of over 100 real estate agents and business owners about social media marketing, AI, and CRMs, and it was the second time I’ve done that this week.

I get to work with some of the top industry professionals and real estate teams all over the country.

I get to give 5 people jobs.

I get to help business owners grow.

If I had listened to everyone who told me it’s not realistic, or to the people who told me “no”, or to the people who laughed when I put myself online, this would not be my reality.

I wake up everyday so, incredibly grateful I get to live this life.

Your business will only grow as much as you do as an individual, so put yourself in rooms that are far bigger than where you currently are, introduce yourself unapologetically to people you want to work with, ask people to help you.

You are the creator of your reality. It’s up to you to fuel your own growth.
