Music to Fresh Jams

Staying up with music these days can be fairly difficult. We all have our own busy lives. For the most part, most music-listeners tend to stick to what they know out of mere convenience. It can take hours-if not days- to go about discovering new music you actually like on your own time. I was also very used to keeping the same artists in rotation. Eventually, I started to get into the habit of skipping a lot of music in my library because I was getting sick of hearing the same things. I was still very intimidated to go outside of what I knew I liked, because entering new genres and introducing myself to artists I wasn’t familiar with, was definitely going to be an extensive trial and error process-which can get frustrating.

Ultimately, I started playlisting, and encouraged myself to fill a short playlist with only new music that I could use as my new rotation of songs for the week. I would go check out new releases each Friday from artists I knew about-but didn’t really listen to-and also new music from artists I didn’t know about at all. I’d sit for hours rummaging through hundreds of songs-across various genres-to compile a single list of my favorites from that week. It took a few months, but my willingness to dig into music I wasn’t familiar with became much greater. My taste is so much more refined-yet vast- nowadays. I’ve come to find there’s so many good things out there in the music world that people need to be hearing. So in an attempt to bring exciting new music to willing listeners, my Fresh Jams playlist was born. Every week, I put great new tracks together from across everything new that recently released, and share the playlist with friends or peers who wish to make music discovery less of a hassle. Now with musicto, I wish to take this concept further to reach an even broader audience, in hopes of making discovering new music a joy-rather than a drag- to listeners all around the world.
