Students, faculty and staff at Palatka Junior-Senior High School threw a parade for Michael Chaires, who has been named the state's Assistant Principal of the Year. Chaires, who colleagues say is shy and avoids recognition, played musical chairs, took part in other activities and was doused in confetti during a pep rally held in his honor.

The event, which will be on a Friday, will feature two snow slides, two snow play areas, other activities and pair of festive snowmen, which will also be in this week's Palatka Christmas Parade.
