I love the high consequence nature of tree work, the “do or die” “make it or breaks it” “skin in the game” nature of the job. It provides focus to my efforts, and justifies the costly, precise, effort full preparation and training involved in its successful ex*****on. This medium does the art no justice, nor does the casual practitioner nor the arrogant. Tree work is an exacting task master, rewarding humble, diligent, thoughtful labor with deep satisfaction and wealth.

Here is a couple examples of a safer way to use heavy machinery to pull trees over in the woods. The first shows a 2:1 mechanical advantage and the second 1:1 this is a way to help minimize the chance of breaking ropes or of accidentally tearing out other small trees in the ropes path as the tree falls.

02/12/2020

This was actually a much more complicated removal than it looks, stay tuned if you want to see the fancy Mechanical advantage system we set up to pull it over
