And, I knew then that some people need a little bit of help in this department.

I really feel that the ‘traditional’ headshot is dated.

But, what ends up happening is that oftentimes, you’re ‘lost’ under the lights.

I think people are calling it ‘cringe-worthy’.

I know that we’ve all seen our friends, our cousins, and our co-workers who own businesses and haven’t developed their digital presence yet.

I have a community member who has been following me for years…

She’s been so engaged in every post about content marketing, she’s subscribed to the list, and she shares what I do every time she gets an opportunity.

She owns a business that focuses on creating + selling handmade body butters that are positioned as ‘luxury’ on her platforms.

When you’ve been in communication with someone via socials for a while, you tend to genuinely look into what they’re doing on their profiles.

And, after checking out her pages - she needed serious help with the optics of her brand to truly position it as a ‘luxury’ brand.

Since we’d already been in conversation throughout the years, I shot her a DM asking her, “Why aren’t you my client yet? I can help you to create engaging content that truly attracts the customers that value what you sell.”

And, her answer was simple…
“I can’t afford you.”

Here’s the thing - I know that my content creation services are not for EVERYONE.

But, I have gotten tired of money being a constant barrier between me and small businesses.

They start the businesses.
They need better marketing to attract.
They can’t afford the marketing.
They end up stuck in the same cycles.

So, I went in on my research to figure out how I can help her without adding more stress to my plate.

I’ve mostly worked with small business owners, and running a business is NOT cheap on top of your day to day expenses.

And, I have struggled with money being the ‘thing’ between us that sometimes harms the relationship.

So, what did I find?
KLARNA.

I’ve used it to buy shoes that I didn’t need.
But, I had NO idea that I could set this up for my services in my business.

I got approved.
I added my 1:1 monthly content service to my website that is $500/month at a 3 month commitment ($1500 investment).

And, I came back to those DMs to ask her, “Can you afford to break the payment into 4? Bringing you to $375 per payment bi-weekly.”

The response I got told me exactly what I needed to know, “Girl, send the damn link.”

We’re hopping on our content strategy session to plan out her content tomorrow morning, but here’s the thing…

I was able to eliminate this heavy stress that I’ve been feeling for 4 years based off of one decision.

She now is paying Klarna - not me directly.
She now is getting the content she needs - she doesn’t have to wait.

And, I say all this to say - figure out HOW you can make it happen.

Because it can be done.

because there is a business owner out there who needs to hear this 👇🏾

that ‘perfect’ image that you’re trying to keep up on your business page is OUT…

but, pulling in your authenticity is now actually IN 🥂

for years, I’ve watched business owners straight to keep up with the perfect facade that doesn’t actually identify with the people who run those businesses 😮‍💨

❌ booking ‘high end’ photo shoots, where they are styled in spaces + clothing that doesn’t match who their clients are actually going to meet

❌ crafting ‘high-value’ services that are based in + on things that they’ve heard were trending to make quick dollars

❌ fluffing ‘high quality’ results that aren’t actually in alignment with their audiences OR what they can actually achieve

and, I’m here to tell you that the jig is up.

ain’t nobody tryna lie on the internet to make a sale anymore…

other business owners know you’re lying.
your audience knows you’re lying.
and, YOU know that you’re lying.

I’ve watched business owners really struggle with keeping consistent content moving to ensure they’re marketing their businesses 👇🏾

• sometimes based on never developing a plan for their businesses, their branding or their marketing

• sometimes based on not bringing in enough capital to cover things like their marketing, which is an ongoing expense

so, you’re hosting and in-person event, and you feel like it’s a big deal.

you plan it down to the minute, you spend money paying for the details - the decor, the guest favors and even the bar…

but, when it comes to actually capturing the essence of the event, here is what your first thought is 👇🏾

to hire a photographer to collect professional event images of the event, the attendees, the details, and your role.

OR

to hire a videographer to create a finalized recap video of the event that is professionally shot + under five minutes.

and, what you’re hoping to do with this footage is to share it via social media to show what you’ve done, to invite people to your next event and to make people wonder exactly why they weren’t there to begin with.

the problems lie here👇🏾

• at least 82% of internet traffic is based on traffic from video
• 72% of people prefer to learn about a product or service through video content
• viewers retain 95% of a message when watching it on video, compared to 10% through text
• 66% of consumers find short-form content to be the most engaging format

so, if you’re looking to gain true traction from the media that you’re releasing pertaining to an event, that leads to ⤵️

• actual engagement that begs you to produce another event
• actual leads that generate more clients, more engagements, and more sales
• actual clicks, saves, and shares that generate buzz for you, your organization or your business

then, understand that you need way more than 35 perfectly edited photos + a 2-minute recap video.

it is not the 90s.
you need actual content.

here’s what I believe every organization hosting events should do when it comes to their documentation of them ⤵️

1️⃣ hire a content strategist first

you’d be surprised on exactly what a content strategist can do for your event + your business.

most content strategists already work with media personnel who understand the exact formatting + frequency of media needed to generate content.

2️⃣ strategize your post-campaign

most people are only considering the build up towards an event - but, what about after?

you still want that event to work in your favor, which means there needs to be a campaign to seal the envelope after it’s all said and done.

3️⃣ list your deliverables

if you know that you want to share fresh content surrounding this event later OR that this is a recurring event that needs content shared about it consistently, then you want serious deliverables from your media team.

how many posts are you looking to create during your post-campaign?

how much media is included?

do you own the media or are you simply paying for usage?

these are all very important steps.

I totally get that planning + executing an event is strenuous enough.

but, doing all the work + not getting the correct content to share it for the highest results is crazy.

because those consequences always 🤝🏾 actions 😂

The number one thing that I hear women in business frustrated about is the cost to actually be in business 😮‍💨

Whether we’re talking about overhead, subscriptions or the cost of something like marketing - It all adds up at the end of the day.

And, although I can’t take away the pain that we all feel as business owners that’s linked to how much money we’re putting out - I do have some solutions when it comes to marketing your business.

Women in business should focus on learning the ins + outs of all of the subscriptions they are paying for to determine where they can consolidate ⤵️

example: Canva is a great place to create graphics, presentations, and branded documents for your business. But, it also serves as a way to schedule your content to save on space [similar to Planoly], holds your brand elements to save on time [similar to iCloud], and can serve as a space to record yourself while reviewing documents, to save money [similar to Loom].

Women in business should be focused on collaborative functions that can be held in the spaces they are renting per month.

example: I rent out my content studio to other creators because they like my vibe + decor style, which makes me money every single time I do it. If it’s not being used, they can always use it.

Women in business should start with creating their own content marketing for their businesses to learn the process + techniques prior to handing it off as a paid service.

example: Learning exactly how to use the device that you already own is a great way to keep consistent content going out about your business to educate, entertain and engage your audiece prior to asking for a sale

"How do I keep consistent with digital content creation and publishing?"

And, the truth is that you need to ensure that you have a few things ⤵️

1️⃣ A strategic content plan

Your content plan is literally the golden ticket when it comes to a successful content session. Whether you're creating content for the week, the month, or the quarter - the need for a content strategy will guide you based on exactly WHAT you're creating, INSPIRATION to refer to and HOW you're going to create said content.

Consider this the manual to that complicated IKEA desk that you're putting together - You NEED it.

2️⃣ Easy-to-use equipment

I know that some will disagree, but you don't need the fanciest equipment or to hire the most talented people to create amazing digital content. What you should focus on is the fact that content marketing is backed by SPEED + AUTHENTICTY. Your equipment to create while you're in your element needs to be efficience, user friendly and dependable.

Adding a specific time slot to your busy calendar is something that if often overlooked, but is one of your most valuable steps.
