Hundreds turned out last week to Elim Christian Leadership Church for a final farewell to one of the most respected community leaders of this generation. Arthur O. (Champ) Eve, Jr. transitioned after a long battle with chronic disease at the age of 68.

Champ was the eldest son of former New York State Assembly Deputy Speaker Arthur O. Eve, the most influential Black politician in Buffalo history, and the late Constance (Connie) Eve.

Champ was a man’s man who dedicated his life to community and family.

His funeral was truly a celebration of a life well lived and a sad, solemn expression of genuine love by many of his friends, family, and colleagues who told the story of a remarkable human being who touched the lives of thousands in his many endeavors.

Huge turnout for new WNY for Harris Headquarters

https://www.thebuffalocriterion.com/local-news-1/z1ylb4tst3sq0uwee8oz4qkalvw667

A crowd of nearly 300 celebrated the opening of the new Western New York for Harris headquarters at 671 Seneca Street last night with a high-energy rally and open house that featured remarks from Congressman Tim Kennedy, County Executive Mark Poloncarz, state Senator Sean Ryan, District Attorney Mike Keane, County Legislature Chair April Baskin, and many more.

“The energy and enthusiasm we shared at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago made its way to Buffalo and Erie County last night,” Erie County Democratic Committee Chair Jeremy J. Zellner said. “Our speakers, many of whom joined me as part of the regional delegation in Chicago, united us in our support for Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz, as well as all our important down-ballot candidates, from Chair Baskin and DA Keane to our Family Court and state legislature delegation.

“And now the hard part begins: doing the work necessary to win on Tuesday, Nov. 5, which is why we followed our rally with an open house where we signed up volunteers for phone banking for the national, local, and regional tickets, assembling and distributing lawn signs, door-to-door canvassing, and weekly trips to Erie, Pa. to ensure that the Harris-Walz campaign win that critical swing state.”

Zellner said that since President Biden’s decision not to seek reelection, and since Harris’ nomination in Chicago, volunteer requests have been pouring into ECDC by the hundreds.

Anyone interested in getting involved with the national and local campaigns may visit ecdems.com or call 716-853-2511.
