Updates from North Caldwell Police:

Please be advised that schools will be back in session on Thursday, September 9th. Please be mindful of the increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic during this time. As always, public safety is our priority and we ask that you do your part by driving safely at all times. The North Caldwell Police Department will be strictly enforcing speed limits and all other local traffic laws and will be issuing tickets if violations are observed.

The Borough of North Caldwell, North Caldwell Board of Education and West Essex Board of Education continue to work together in this effort to maintain safe roads. We thank you in advance for your cooperation in driving responsibly and safely. In order to further help you, we would like to advise you of a few items:

1. On August 25th, Essex County installed 'STOP' signs in the traffic triangle at the intersection of Central Avenue, Grandview Avenue and West Greenbrook Road in place of the 'YIELD' signs. Please be aware of this change and follow the posted sign.

2. The Borough will be installing two (2) speed tables on Beachmont Terrace in September. They will be located approximately 200-feet north and 200-feet south of the Hamilton Drive East intersection. Upon completion of the speed tables, the 'STOP' signs on Beachmont Terrace at this intersection will be removed. Please be aware of this upcoming change and drive with caution.

3. The Borough will be installing two (2) new solar flashing speed limit signs on Mountain Avenue to the north and south of Gould Avenue. This intersection is extremely busy during school hours. Please approach the intersection with caution and be mindful of all pedestrians and other motorists.

4. The Borough and the North Caldwell Board of Education will be implementing a new one-way flow of traffic through the Borough Hall parking lot during school drop-off and pick-up hours. The Borough Hall parking lot driveway near the Borough Hall building will be used as an entrance only. The driveway near the pool will be used as an exit only.

For more specific updates on these projects and for other emergency alerts, please be sure to sign up for the Borough's new emergency alert system, CivicAlert, by visiting https://public.alertsense.com/SignUp/?regionid=1657.

The Borough of North Caldwell is able to send you emergency alerts via text message, email, pager, or voice mail (in extreme cases), based on your preferences. It is important that we collect this contact information because many households no longer utilize traditional land-based telephone lines. ...
