❄️ Sign-up to receive a notification when our snow ordinance is issued or lifted by visiting https://pellaia.regroup.com/signup or by texting “Join Snow” to 30890.

❄️ When a snow ordinance is in effect, vehicles must be moved off public streets and parking lots to allow for effective snow removal. Plows make multiple passes before a street is fully cleared, so vehicles should not be moved back to public streets or parking lots until the ordinance is officially lifted. Vehicles remaining on public grounds during a snow emergency will be issued a parking citation and towed if necessary.

❄️ Property owners must remove snow and ice from public sidewalks next to their property within 24 hours after snow stops falling or ice stops forming. Snow and ice should not be blown, pushed, or placed upon a City street or right-of-way.

❄️ If you have a fire hydrant near your property, make sure it is visible and accessible.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation during this winter season!

Gagliardi Trophy announcement set for Friday

PELLA—Central College football fans are eagerly awaiting announcement of the winner of the Gagliardi Trophy Friday at 4:30 p.m. on D3football.com.

The award is presented by Jostens and the J-Club of Saint John’s University (Minn.) to the nation’s most outstanding NCAA Division III football player.

The announcement will air as part of the D3football.com pregame show for the Division III championship, the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, in Canton, Ohio, which kicks off at 6 p.m. Central Time and will air on ESPNU. The announcement will be made during the first 30 minutes of the 90-minute pregame show. A link for the show will be featured on the site’s home page Friday afternoon.

Central College quarterback Blaine Hawkins (5th-year, Ankeny) is among five finalists for the award. Already a first-team AFCA Division III All-America honoree and also a second-team CoSIDA Academic All-American®, Hawkins set an NCAA all-divisions record with 63 touchdown passes this season. In 13 games, he completed 331 of 468 passes (70.7%) for 4,475 yards and eight interceptions while posting a passing efficiency rating of 192.1. He also rushed for 230 yards and five touchdowns on 83 carries.

The other finalists are defensive back/punter/return specialist Jefferson Fritz of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas); wide receiver Andrew Kamienski of North Central College (lll.), quarterback Wyatt Smith of Linfield University (Ore.) and quarterback Gavin Zimbelman of Aurora University (Ill.). The J-Club Board of Directors selected 15 semifinalists from nominations submitted by colleges. The five finalists were chosen by the Gagliardi Trophy national selection committee, comprised of 18 coaches, six Division III administrators, 12 regional voters and seven at-large voters. Each cast a ballot ranking the semifinalists. A fan ballot determined an additional committee vote and had more than 3
