Oklahoma City Goes to the polls

Today, February 8th, 2022 Oklahoma City Oklahoma will Go to the polls to decide to keep their
current mayor, David Holt. Or select a brand new mayor to run Oklahoma City.
Holt is up against Carol Hefner, Jimmy Lawson, and Frank
Urbanic.
Holt has held the seat of OKC mayor since 2018 but will he hold on to that seat with

There are caravans of supporters for the movement started by
Junior “Connie Johnson street team member” Nicholas Elijah Evans who was invited by Mayoral Candidate Jimmy Lawson to attend Mr. Lawson’s “Watch Party” event.

Caravans are picking up voters from 3 main sides of town offering rides to the polls, Jimmy Lawson's “Jimmy Lawson For OKC Mayor” holds the “Rock The Vote Caravan” Information.

This is also a place where Jimmy’s supporters will see in real-time if Mr. Lawson is elected Oklahoma CIty’s next
mayor.
“I always see Jimmy out in the streets, ministering to the youth or the houseless,” Says Activist “ Jacoby Blass from the nonprofit “Restorative Justice Party”
“Restorative Justice Party”is a non-profit that services incarcerated citizens across the nation. Every year
Jacoby Puts out a “Vote or No Vote” Opinion post regarding which candidates she would
choose if she was a voter in each state.
This year Jacoby chose Jimmy Lawson as her “Vote for” choice.

With a Facebook post by Jacoby Blass criticizing Carol Hefner's choice of words towards a visit to Oklahoma from former president Barack Obama, where she stated “This happened-Love
It”, with a picture of a news clipping of Oklahomans greeting the former president with confederate flags.
Urbanic has been very vocal about his plans to divert Juvenile offenders from adult courts like many of the previous courts have done but Lawson does not think that is
enough to tame the mass incarceration problem Oklahoma is so widely known for.

Another topic that was not discussed by any mayoral candidates was if Oklahoma will
follow that many other states whose mayors are making ``Juneteenth” national holiday.
Jimmy Did explain why he chose to run for Oklahoma City Mayor during an interview before his debate at Douglas county high school this past week.
“This is my first time running for Mayor”, Jimmy explained.
“Watching Julius Jones allowed me to see stuff I have never seen before such as Equal access to procedures, the Appeal process.
I know that Oklahoma city historically has some communities of people that have no voice.
2019 is when I began to think I should run, inspired by my father before he passed away.
We gotta be the change” Jimmy explained.
“On my website, you can hear stances on a variety of subjects if you are still trying to decide who to vote for,” Jimmy adds.
Mr. Lawson closed the interview by saying, “God has shaped and molded me into the leader for this position. Previous jobs that I thought would be my long term career did not work out
because I was being shaped and molded to lead Oklahoma as Oklahoma City’s Mayor one day, ``Today is the day”.
No one will know who will win the Okc Mayor candidates seat today but whoever keeps or steals the seat has a long list of tasks to oversee once the office has been taken.
The Oklahoma City-County Jail has been a hot topic of discussion. Covid relief money distributed to the community has also been a topic discussed by communities in OKC.
Whoever comes out the top contender of today's voting polls will have to answer all of those hard questions Oklahomans have for the next 4 years.

Today marks the day OKC mayoral campaign is over for 2022, now it is up to the people who get out and vote to decide who the next OKC mayor will be.
