On this episode, I'll be talking to the group I called the Lead Prevention 3 Musketeers. These 3 dynamic leaders have spent years on the front lines in the battle to end lead poisoning in Syracuse and Onondaga. Joining me are: Stephanie Pasquale (formerly city NBD), Kathleen Lacey Bronson (formerly Home HQ), and Deb Lewis, with the County Health Department. We will be discussing the efforts of the past few years, and the significance of the new lead ordinance scheduled to come before the council this Monday, July 13th.

On this episode of Salt City Grind, I’ll be talking to Katrina Korfmacher from University of Rochester and Elizabeth McDade from the Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning. In the decade following the adoption of Rochester’s Lead Ordinance, the city saw a 90% reduction in rates of lead poisoning. These two leaders were instrumental in the program’s success.
The Syracuse Common Council is slated to vote on a new Lead Ordinance next Monday, July 13. As we consider this shift in policy and enforcement, these two women who are intimately familiar with the Rochester case study, provide us a lot of insight for the journey ahead .
