Is it better to be a guest on established podcasts or to start your own show? 🎙️🎤
The answer, of course, is that it depends.
Both strategies have their strengths and weaknesses.
Guesting on shows ...
Strengths:
--Takes less time ⏲️
--Gets guests in front of relevant audiences
--Get shareable content without having to create it
Weaknesses:
--No editorial control
--One-off opportunity
--Takes time to get booked and prepare
Starting your own podcast ...
Strengths:
--Total editoral control
--Develop relationships with guests and audience
--Build a library of content and repurpose into other types
Weaknesses:
--Takes considerable time and effort to build and launch
--Time needed to find and book guests
--Time to promote show and build audience
Both approaches are valid, and they're not mutually exclusive.
Personally, I think the benefits of starting your own show outweigh the costs ... Especially if you're working with a top-shelf podcasting agency! 😜

The trajectory of podcasts... an interesting topic to discuss! One of the reasons podcasts are so popular is because of the ability to establish a connection between listeners and hosts which can be built through a conversational tone. In the past we can all recall the attention grabbing "announcer voice" if you will, but now the more popular avenue appears to be the more natural and relaxed speaking voice.
