Since I have several new followers since the last time I introduced myself on here, I wanted to welcome everyone again here to my page and re-introduce myself! My name is William Simpkins, and I run Gold Strike Recordings! Over the last year I’ve been able to work with several new artists and filmmakers on various projects, some of which are always on going! Some of which include a single forKneeland Hibbett, an EP for Cadence Baker, a record for Blake Sutton, a record for, an EP for Otto Speake, an EP for Josh Lambert, an EP for Will & The Prodigal Sun, a song for Bailey Burrow Photography, a single for Savannah Maybrey, a wedding video scores for Scotty Simpkins Photography (and myself haha!), and a short film score for Cole Johnson (NYU!), just to name a few!

What I bring to the table in the studio is a relaxed, comfortable studio environment that prioritizes creativity and taking chances to make a good song great! I am also a studio musician, and I’ve played most of the instruments on the projects mentioned above, as they are mostly singer songwriters, however, I love when a band comes in and I can just be the producer/engineer! I love doing both!

A little about myself personally, I am a husband and a father, and those are my favorite and most important roles I play in my life. Im a (apparently…) a coffee snob. blink-182 and The Beatles are simultaneously my favorite bands and have been since I was very young. I am the biggest advocate for authenticity you’ll find. I am a believer in Jesus, and I’m currently finishing my undergrad degree after 8 years… lolol // would love to be your friend and also work with you on any projects you might have in mind!

Dork Post*

It’s so funny when this happens, but last night we recorded guitar with a Royer 122 (that’s right, not the 121), and a Sennheiser 421 thru a classic 1176LN. It technically sounded great by itself, but at the end of the session we just said “ehh this isn’t it. It just needs to go DI.” 😂 It’s so funny when that happens! Gotta do what the song needs!
