Millions of people were out on the roads in Buenos Aires to celebrate ’s World Cup title, and his team mates were forced to abandon the planned open-top bus route and instead fly over the city in helicopters.
Friends, families, even rival fans traveled from across the country to the capital to bask in the glory of a first world title in 36 years.
According to reports, nearly 5 million people hit the roads. And at one point, it became difficult for the bus to pass through the large crowd and eventually a helicopter had to be called to safely take the players out of the crowd.
Yet most ended up missing the main show after the chaotic bus trip was aborted nearly five hours after it began, with police deciding it could not go on for security reasons.
