Most people when they hear of the Army of Virginia, think that it was strictly in regard to the Confederate States of America. What most people don't know is that there was in fact an Army of Virginia for the Union Forces as well. "The Army of the Potomac was headquartered on the Virginia Peninsula, and then outside Washington, D.C., with McClellan still in command, although three corps of the Army of the Potomac were sent to northern Virginia and were under Pope's operational control during the Northern Virginia Campaign."

President Lincoln wired General George McClellan saying "I have just read your dispatch about sore tongued and fatigued [sic] horses. Will you pardon me for asking what the horses of your army have done since the battle of Antietam that fatigue anything?" shortly after this he replaced General McClellan with General Burnside.

Union General Daniel Sickles tried to return to his third core Under General Mead. General Mead refused to reinstate his command due to the insubordination that took place on July 2 at Gettysburg. Sickels had moved his corp too far forward which forced Mead to thin his ranks out because Sickles had exposed a mile-long hole in the line. Gen. Mead had to thin his lines out in order to prevent a split of his armies.

One of a Kind
On Nov. 10th back in 1865, the Famed Henery Wirz was the officer in charge of the well known Andersonville. Andersonville had one of the highest mortality rates when it came to Prisoner of War camps. on this day Henery Wirz was hanged for committing war crimes. what makes this unique is that he was one of two Confederate officers to be put to death for his crimes. on this day his ex*****on was carried out. This is what made his ex*****on one of a kind and this day back in 1865 one of a kind.

On Nov. 10th prior to the war in 1860, South Carolina's Senator James Chestnut Jr. resigns his seat in the U.S. Senate. this was his response to the split of the house and senate. He left and became the deputy of South Carolina for two years. also was a military man as well and served many leadership and council roles. After the war he returned to his practice of Law.
