What Catholics Believe About the Death Penalty (clip #1)
Most people think that the death penalty deters crime, but it actually DOSEN'T!
Although in Scripture it says "An eye for an eye," that was in the Old Testament. But when Jesus came, He said that NO ONE should be taking retaliation.

Rethinking parental authority and the Fourth Commandment (bonus clip)
God is trying to teach us how to follow His authority by submitting ourselves to our parents' authority, even if it dosen't make sense.
As long as it's not sin, we SHOULD be practicing obedience towards our parents as a way of growing in obedience to the Lord!
We honor God when we honor our father and mother.

Rethinking parental authority and the Fourth Commandment
The Fourth #Commandment teaches us that the relationship between a parent and child is a God-given relationship. In CCC paragraph 2248 it says “According to the fourth Commandment, God has willed that, after Him, we should honor our parents and those whom He has vested with authority for our good.”
For our good, we should honor our parents. Our ability to honor and respect the authority and relationship we have with our parents says a lot about our ability to honor the authority God has over us! God has revealed that the relationship He has with us is that of a loving Father, who has authority over us.
Honoring our parents fosters harmony throughout all our family life. As long as your parents aren’t forcing you to commit sin, there is a responsibility for us to honor God in how we honor the authority God has given our parents.

Why did God command us to honor our parents? (clip #2)
The Fourth #Commandment is especially addressed to children and their relationship with their parents because this relationship is the most universal.
God reveals a resemblance of His own life of communion through the relationships we experience between members of a family. By honoring our father and mother, we honor God!
The family is a special human relationship that should be founded on unconditional love. In this way, it reflects the communion of life and love of God in the Trinity.

Why did God command us to honor our parents? (clip #1)
The Fourth #Commandment is about the most universal, powerful, and foundational relationship: the one we have with our parents! The Fourth Commandment is to honor our father and mother.
God wants us to honor and love Him first, and then to honor and love our parents! We honor God by honoring those that God has given authority over us.

Why did God command us to honor our parents?
Even Jesus, who is God, saw obedience to His parents’ authority as honoring God’s authority. The #catechism says in paragraph 2197, “The fourth commandment opens the second table of the Decalogue. It shows us the order of charity.”
The order of charity means that God wants us to honor and love Him first, and then to honor and love our parents! We honor God by honoring who God has given authority over us.
The Fourth Commandment is addressed expressly to children in their relationship to their father and mother, because this relationship is the most universal.
But this Commandment also means that parents have a responsibility to live in a way that fosters and supports this honoring from their children, and allows their children to experience God through their role as parents.

Why parents matter more than you think (clip #2)
NOTHING replaces the parent-child relationship and its influences on how we grow and develop into adults.
If this relationship does so much to form the adult persons we become, how can we honor and invest in this relationship throughout our lives?

Why parents matter more than you think
We all know parents are important. But just how impactful are they? Parents, or primary caregivers, aren’t just important for their contributions to our biology and genetics, but also because of all the other ways they shape us, especially during our early and formative years. They are the only relationship we experience on earth where someone both loves us as their own child and has direct authority over and responsibility for us.
Nothing replaces the parent-child relationship and its influence on how we develop and grow into adults. If this relationship does so much to form the persons we become, how can we honor and invest in this relationship throughout our lives?

Why parents matter more than you think (clip #1)
Did you know that the way parents interact with their child during the first few years of their life can have lifelong consequences on how this child responds to relationship dynamics?
Parent-child relationships are different from ALL other relationships we experience! Our parents are there for the period when our brains develop faster than ANY other time in our lives.
