Today in Black History, Morgan Freeman was born in 1937!

What a dynamic and skilled actor, director, and narrator. Freeman was born in Memphis, TN, but grew up in Greenwood, MS. He was offered a partial scholarship to Jackson State University in theater but joined the armed forces instead. Freeman is well known for his roles in Glory, Lean on Me, Seven and, Driving Miss Daisy.

Today in Black History in 1921, is the anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre. The Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma that was made up of 35 blocks of Black homes and businesses was completely destroyed by mobs of whites. This terrorist attack would become known as the worst incident of racial violence in American history.

If we learn anything from the Greenwood District tragedy, is that as Blacks, we can create our own businesses and live together in harmony. Every state in this country should have a Greenwood District! What is stopping us from building the village again!
