When I first started my sales career back in 2000, I was TERRIFIED to ask for the business! UGH! It was AWFUL! And not just for me! For my boss, for the customer. Truly!

Wanna know one tip I learned that pushes me forward when my palms get sweaty?
90% of potential clients/leads WILL NOT PURCHASE unless you ask for the business.

Yeah. Brutal, right? So I guess it's time to suck it up, buttercup!

Here is an INVALUABLE tip for you if you have any fear of rejection.

They're not rejecting YOU! (unless you're super pushy and haven't had an actual conversation with them)

So keep nurturing the relationship - like a real human. Not someone with an agenda. People see through that BS every time!

Duh. WHO DOESN'T?! Gonna tell ya up front- we all have "Personal Productivity Profiles" and when I learned what mine was and identified what works best for ME? WHOA.

Let's just say that it has had a HUGE impact on my productivity recently. I will share that I stepped away for a bit b/c I had so much behind the scenes stuff to do there was ZERO room on my plate!

BUT! And this was a dose of reality with myself, my friends - this is SOCIAL MEDIA. Anyone who is successful using S.M. has to show up and be social!!!!

Say WHAT?! So does that mean I just NAG the hell outta people? Of course not. It means you haven't done your job. You have more work to do!

Rule #1: Your job is not to try and talk everyone you know into seeing the value or importance of your product. Your job is to find the people who already SHARE similar values and beliefs. The ones who aren't "there yet"? Well, your content should be built to take them up the ladder of belief.

Rule #2: Money is ALWAYS the last reason people don't buy. So unless the budget is super tight and they are in a financial hardship...if they see the value, THEY WILL FIND A WAY.

Rule #3: You have no business making an offer to someone (1:1) until you can confidently articulate their WIIFM!

Rule #4: When someone says "No", simply validate, understand, reassure and keep loving on them until a)- they come back to you b/c your content struck a chord with them or b)- you think you know what it is that they want and can present to them in a way that they end up feeling "Wow. She put a lot of thought into that. I totally agree. I need this."

Seems too simple, right?

You send a message to a friend about a product she has shared - you're interested. Now you tell me...which response would you prefer?

A)- 12 paragraphs reviewing WHY it is the best and that you NEED it and a link to purchase.

OR

B)- "I'm so glad you asked! I LOVE (said product)! Can you tell me what made you inquire? (so I don't throw up all over you)

Hopefully you picked B. B/c A is likely to result in being GHOSTED.

There are not a lot of people out there who feel COMFORTABLE with selling. And then when you consider the ugly phase of puberty FB went through with all of the direct sales people coming out of the woodwork and sending "Hey girl" messages...well, let's just say it takes some "finesse".

What a privilege and honor to be highlighted by a dear friend and fellow leader as she highlights a recent passion project of hers!

It's funny how seeing yourself through someone else's eyes can really knock your socks off. Yeah, "Powerful Leader" is one of my top "Strengths"...according to the assessment.

But here's the thing.

I am just ME. I do what I do. Every day I wake up and try and be better than I was the day before. Not because I am not satisfied! That's not it at all! Simply stated, to be blessed beyond measure and NOT try my best to serve, inspire, encourage, and make a positive difference in the lives of all I encounter would be a waste!

So to see my strengths, gifts and talents through someone else's eyes is humbling and heart warming. Thank you Best of You for encouraging this gal to stand in her power and grab the Bull (AKA "LIFE") by the horns with all my influencing power!

Are you a Powerful Leader?
Meet Tracy she is a powerful woman she has so many great attributes. Today Iโ€™m going to share one of them with you. In the workbook I refer to this attribute as โ€œPowerful Leaderโ€ Tracy is a great example of this trait. Tracy calls it how she seeโ€™s it. She is bold and gets her message across. If there was an emergency or no one in charge she would rise to the occasion and take charge and people would listen. This makes her a great coach and helps her to get results fast. She can share her message with conviction and in a powerful way. Her assertiveness makes her remarkably effective.
Here is how Tracy seeโ€™s this attribute in her life. "In all walks of life I find myself looking around assessing the "needs" of what is happening around me. If I see chaos and it's not a 2 year old's birthday party with a bounce house? Then you bet I will rise to the occasion! It is almost physically PAINFUL not to step in and provide leadership or give structure when it is needed!
I asked my daughter what example I should use for "Powerful Leader" and she didn't have to think long. She said "Oh! You should TOTALLY talk about when I was in 7th grade and you were dropping me off for the Lion King's pre-show prep for all of the cast! You were being nice and asked if they needed anything when Mrs. Russell shared her top issues. #1 was that there was no one to do all of the Lioness's and Hyena's hair! You put your purse down, asked where everything was, and took care of it. You must have done 8 hyenas and 10 lionesses; and those girls sat down and let you do your thing!"
Every strength comes with its "flip side of the coin", though, and I will tell you this- it was super helpful when I was mature enough to "reign this in" when necessary! I now sit back, assess, and then decide. For example, when my husband and I went to NYC for my BFF's and my 40th birthday. Her husband had a plan and knew the subway system and it was ALL FIGURED OUT. Great! No need for me to be a control freak! I'm in charge enough! Let someone else take charge if they are up for the task! If I see "a hole" most of the time I will sincerely offer assistance and if it is not clearly accepted I back off." -Tracy Adams

I started off with this attribute today because we need Tracy and so many others with this trait to rise to the best of this attribute in the world right nowโ€ฆ great leaders standing boldly for good. - Melissa
