Another great new book just arrived from the printers! It’s fascinating and inexpensive to boot. We actually don’t do a lot of shotgun books, so if anyone has ideas on where this should be shared, we’d certainly appreciate your help getting the word out!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has started a newsletter about items from their collection called Dispatches from the Field. They come by email and I just read the first one, which was about a helmet and really good.

The Met's Arms and Armor collection is one of the most comprehensive and encyclopedic of its kind, comprising over 14,000 objects, focusing on works that show outstanding design and decoration, rather than those of purely military or technical interest.

Wow MACA fans, we are less than 2 weeks away from the 65th Annual original Baltimore Antique Arms Show and I have an IMPORTANT message for you:

THE “2020 BALTIMORE SHOW” REMAINS SCHEDULED AS IN PAST YEARS!

March 21 & 22, 2020
Several of our exhibitors have heard that MACA is cancelling our “2020 Baltimore Show”. This is not true. Undoubtedly, you are as concerned as we about the ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and its potential impact on public gatherings. We have not been advised by health professionals, that it would be in the public’s interest to cancel our show.

At this writing there is no indication that MACA will cancel the show. However, given the evolving nature of this situation, the MACA Show Committee will continue to monitor public heath directives and follow best practices for determining a decision to cancel or implement necessary precautions.

Your best sources of up-to-date information on the outbreak are the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization.

As many of you know, we recently came out with a book on U*I Submachine Guns by author David Gaboury. Well, Iddo Gal, U*i Gal's son, gave a copy of the book to Mati Hemid, who was a lifelong friend of U*i's and was instrumental in organizing the large display of small arms at the IDF museum. Mati is 95 now, and here’s a photo of him with the book! It is really cool when something we have worked on is able to reach a person who was intimately involved in the subject and can remember the events that are being described. Neat!
