There are many opinions, so let’s explore another
Another theory some, though many fewer, believe is that of a local or incomplete flood. This would mean that on the highest places that the nephilim escaped where the waters would not affect them. This seems unlikely, again, given the character of God, and would undermine the veracity of the Bible itself. Yet, other cultures do state in oral tradition that this is what happened. Furthermore, there are those that argue that the Hebrew grammar is unclear as to whether all the peaks are stated to have been covered fully or not.

This theory postulates that Ham’s son Cush had several sons. Among them is the well known “Nimrod,” which literally means Rebellion. Many scholars speculate this is Gilgamesh. This theory is of interest because Genesis 10:8 states that Nimrod “began to become a gibborim.” Gibborim can be a broad term that means mighty. But it is also often associated with the Nephilim. Nimrod also built the Tower of Babel. However, Babel actually means gateway to god, not confusion as many suppose. It is understood that he was trying to get the gods to do his will. Part of that will seems to be to become a nephilim…
