The Moffat Family
"It ceases to be about comparison, and what's simply about grief. Not getting the thing. The thing you've hoped for, the thing you've wanted... It just gets to hurt."
It just gets to hurt. There's so much wisdom in that little phrase. Too often we get stuck in a cycle of comparing each other's grief. Rob and Courtney remind us that we don't need to compare each other's stories and pain. Every one of our stories, and the pain we feel due to the trials we face in this life, is valid.
Sure love these two. They are such wonderful people who have been through so much together. Their story is about learning to live with pain and heartache, while holding joy in the same hand. Something I have learned from them, and what you'll see in this video, is that grief and gratitude often go together. How many times have we felt beyond grateful for what we have, but have still felt hurt and disappointed that things haven't turned out the way we wanted? Courtney was the one to remind me when I had a c section with my first baby, that I could feel grateful and sad at the same time. Sad that his birth didn't go the way I had imagined, but so thankful we were both healthy, safe and that I was a mom.
This video shows how they've learned to give themselves grace when they feel their grief resurface, and how that doesn't take away from their gratitude.
Stay tuned for the next part of their story, where they walk us through Courtney's diagnosis and fight with breast cancer. Their perspective on life is deeply inspiring.
