October brings us Halloween, spotlighting bats and other creepy creatures.

Speaking of bats, how much do you really know about them?

Did you know that, according to The Nature Conservancy, some bats can fly 60 - 100 mph, making them the fastest mammals on Earth?

Does this fact or fear?

Join us for our October Sandbar Lecture - Bats with Becky Savage from the NC Wildlife Resources Commission and you might leave with a greater appreciation for these misunderstood creatures. Maybe they’re just victims of misinformation or ineffective PR!

Please use caution while driving in the area today, as the Town of Sunset Beach is holding its annual Sunset at Sunset Event.

Sunset at Sunset will run from 10 to 5 in the Town Park. There will be limited parking close to the event, so we encourage people to park at the satellite lots and use the shuttle buses. These are the empty lot next to the planetarium and Seaside Methodist Church.

The town added additional handicapped parking and a special area for golf cart parking as well.

Sea and Sand Band goes on at 11 and LunaSea will begin at 2pm.

It's going to be a beautiful day! We will see you there!!
