Emerald Coast Records announces the June release of of the new 2 song EP from The Hot Daddy Show featuring GTO Johnny and Sparky Pontificator. The two tracks were recorded at Fame Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals and produced by Rickie Joe Wilson and Spencer Coates. The songs were recorded live to tape with no overdubs and mixed down to analog tape, just like in the good ole days. Going Up The Country, the classic Canned Heat song along with Wilson’s original composition Hot Rod Daddy will both be released worldwide this summer. Interestingly enough it coincides with the re-release of Canned Heat’s new version of Going Up The Country, the only Canned Heat song to make mainstream radio during the days of AM radio.

Rickie Joe Wilson and John Whitcomb have been creating music together for over 40 years. While both have traveled their own musical journeys over the years their paths have continued to cross allowing for a strong one of a kind personal and professional bond. The two will tell you in over 40 years there has never been a cross word spoken between the two. And now as fate would have it the two have come together for a special three song EP to be recorded at Fame Recording Studios, the original home of The Swampers, in Muscle Shoals Alabama on Wednesday, May 31st. The EP will be released on Wilson’s own label, Emerald Coast Records formed by Rickie Joe Wilson and his son Dylan Wilson in 2021 in Pensacola Beach, Florida where Rickie Joe Wilson now resides and performs year round. Release date is this summer with some live shows to follow. The EP will be available worldwide on all digital platforms and will be released to radio in late June. Coast Records Dylan Wilson president.

Emerald Coast Records has partnered with AOK Records Nashville to promote Rickie Joe Wilson’s latest pop radio/video single “Reggae Redneck”which was recorded and produced at Fame Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals Alabama. AOK Records released the single in August to over 800 radio stations across The United States and Canada. AOK Records also promoted the video produced by Mark Dreyer Productions Nashville resulting in one million views on Facebook. The next promotional phase has been headed up by Dylan Wilson president of Emerald Coast Records Pensacola Florida. It is an intense Spotify promotion adding the pop song to over 400 Spotify playlists. It is truly the day of the independent record label in America. The playing field has been made level making the competition even greater. The challenge is getting noticed and added by curators and tastemakers out there in the modern, digital music market. It’s a great day to be an independent artist. Today an artist can truly be successful while traveling under the radar of fame and celebrity. After all it’s about the freedom and the art of making great music not necessarily making artists famous.

Finally!!! The re-issue of Rickie Joe Wilson’s 1995 album ”Hot Rod Daddy” produced and co-written by Nashville recording artist, podcaster and long time John Prine guitarist and road warrior Jason Wilbur. It is available worldwide now on all streaming platforms on Emerald Coast Records. Be looking for a release date around Christmas for the “Hot Rod Daddy” single and re-edited video produced by Emerald Coast Records president Dylan Wilson. This album is a true throwback to Rickie Joe Wilson’s Americana roots, Tennessee Three, Country, rockabilly, sound. The “Hot Rod Daddy” single was recorded in secret, overnight, in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University. Because neither had money to buy studio time Rickie recalls that Jason secretly laid down Rickie’s vocals only track and sent him him on his way on a cold winter night. Later, Jason, in secret as well, recorded all the instruments around Wilson’s vocal track. The end result was pure magic. This particular cut has no drums making it reminiscent of Hank Williams Sr. and very early Johnny Cash. It is a breath of fresh air in this modern climate of assembly line, cookie cutter Country Music. It features guitar and bass guitar work by Jason Wilbur, Kevin Burkett and Ronnie Minton on drums. Wilson’s wry vocal style and combination of singing and spoken lyric sets it apart from anything out there today. Jason Wilbur and Rickie Joe Wilson were playing bar gigs together when Jason was recruited to join John Prime’s band after John heard Jason perform one of John Prime’s song at a show at The Bluebird in Bloomington, Indiana in 1995. And the rest is history you might say. Rickie Joe Wilson lost a guitar player but the world gained so much more. Rickie Joe Wilson will bring his Hillbilly Rock and Roll Band to the Park Theatre Civic Center in North Vernon Indiana on Saturday April 15th, 2023. The band features Seymour/Bloomington In. guitarist John Whitcomb, Bloomington In.,Larry Crane Drummer, Kevin Burkett and now Glasgow, Kentucky bassist, Steve Ferrell. Tickets are $10.00 for the 7:30 pm show.

800 VERIFIED RADIO SPINS!!
Just got the word from Adam Adam Angel Knight at AOK Records in Nashville this morning that 715 radio stations have downloaded my new single “Whiskey for Breakfast” and we had 800 verified spins. Without knowing exactly what stations are playing it yet it appears to be doing very well in the Midwest. That was a great way to start my Friday morning.

So today I’m on my Rickie Joe Wilson YouTube channel when this pops up. It’s an album I did with my old Nepenthe buddies Keith Richie and the late David “Heavy” Meadows along with Randy Kidwell and Scott Martindale. In 1992 I moved back from Nashville. We formed a band and called it Rick Wilson and The Neon Cowboys. We played some live shows and even went to Mom’s Recording Studio in Louisville Kentucky and recorded what we called a Country Metal record. We never pressed copies. Unfortunately, the band broke up before we could do that. The master ADAT mysteriously vanished from the radio station WJAA right after I started my on-air gig there. For over thirty years Keith and I both have been looking for that record. Today the album popped up on YouTube. Keith and I both nearly cried when I sent him the YouTube link to check out, well we did cry as a matter of fact. This my favorite tune off that record. It’s called “Ball and Chain”. Who is DEHADEN? I don’t know. But thank you DEHADEN for preserving some of our lost musical history! Check it out Country Metal fans!
