"As tree care professionals, we understand that arboriculture is both an art and a science, practiced by skilled workers. Yet in some places, untrained workers with a truck and chainsaw are labeled as 'arborists.'

But when it comes to safety, it’s a different story."

Did you guess right?

The Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) is a woodboring invasive insect that targets hardwoods. The larvae are laid inside the tree, feeding on the living tissues that contain nutrients as they grow.

The ALB is more destructive than Dutch elm disease, chestnut blight, and gypsy moths combined. Unfortunately, once a tree is infested, the only way to prevent the spread is to cut it down.

These beetles have shiny, black bodies with white spots and have matching antennae that are longer than its body.

Have you come across these pests in the field?

Stay tuned for the next edition of !

As climate change alters weather patterns, resulting in drier, hotter conditions, tree care professionals face twin dilemmas: trees suffering from reduced rainfall and local restrictions on water usage for irrigation.

From planning to planting, there are quite a few natural and man-made factors that affect the location, species, and tactics used for the project.
