Happy National Coming Out Day!

Whether you are in the closet or living life loud and proud, you are 100% valid in your q***rness. 🌈

I didn’t come out until 2019. I was harassed by school staff, parents, and other students to suppress my gayness in high school.

I grew up in WV, the Bible Belt of America where they told me I needed God (not g**s). Lol 😆

I stifled who I was for over a decade. I struggled with mental health issues and negative self talk. I thought I had to force myself into being straight.

When I got divorced in 2019, I finally had the permission I needed from myself to be who I was.

And living authentically doesn’t mean you won’t have issues. I’ve been harassed on the street for kissing my girlfriend. I’ve had a client upload photos labeled “fag” in our shared drive.

I am not immune to anti-lgbtq hate, laws, and rhetoric that has inflamed 2023 through protests, misinformation, anti-lgbtq bills and more.

Yet, I’ve never felt more happy. I’m finally being true to me. I’m head over heels in love with my partner Jessica. And for every friend I lost because of coming out, I have gained supportive community that LOVE ME! 💙🥰

Here’s a look back at past pride events. I can’t wait to March on the capital for a celebration with over 125,000 people!

Grateful to live in a state with a gay governor and a state with such inclusive events.

I didn’t come out until 2019. When I lived in WV I was constantly harassed, outed, judged, and shamed for who I loved. I’m grateful to be where I am now in life where I can be authentically ME! 🏳️‍🌈

My has been suffering lately.

Lots of hate speech against my q***r community, a client labeling photos "fag" and dropping them in our shared folder, a person harassing me because l'm hosting an inclusive open to all LGBTQ+ Cannabis event, and so much more.

I can't even explain all the s**t I deal with in a same-sex relationship without basically withering into a depression hole.

I see people in the industry claim they support women or q***rs in business and then literally turn around and hire all (less qualified) cis men, and like support posts that are against trans rights, and so much more.

I'm usually super grateful but l'm really struggling finding the positivity and it's my flipping early birthday celebration today.

Send some love and do something nice for someone today.

And be careful who you hate, it could be someone you love. 🌈

We don't all get to speak our truth without fear of consequences or death.

Many believe that live events will never look the same. The evolution of virtual events over this past year has formed a new way of holding events, blending in-person and virtual event experiences to form “hybrid” events. Most believe this will become the norm even after COVID is over, due to the reach virtual events allow, while also being able to have meaningful face to face interactions.

While easing back into events, another interesting concept was brought to light that is slightly different from hybrid events- satellite events. Satellite event format looks different, such as a main event in San Francisco that broadcasts the event to multiple smaller gatherings across the US. This event format brings businesses the opportunity to still have face to face interactions for the whole event, just in different places to eliminate people’s safety concerns. We will see satellite events become a trend in the near future because of these benefits.

For those of you who really want to start seeing results from your marketing plan, give me a few minutes to help you out!

Where to start?
Recognize that your audience learns differently, you need to plan how to engage everyone across multiple channels and connect them with where they're at in the buying process, in their mode of learning. You can do this through customer journey mapping, a customer journey is the complete sum of all the experiences your customer will go through when engaging with your brand. If you aren't trying to understand the mindset of your customer throughout the journey with your brand, you aren't going to be driving the number of conversions that you want.

Success
Start by figuring out what your company goals are, what are your projected conversions at each step of the sales and marketing funnel. Map your marketing activities to each stage in the customer journey and funnel stage, prioritize your efforts and budget off of that. Having this plan will help you track your success, do not skip this step. Lastly, report, refine and optimize, this is necessary and is a continuous effort so you can find the repeatable, predictable results in your marketing.
