The smartyskirts podcast is a host-led weekly audio program about things that matter to adult women and non-binary individuals. The format includes both roundtable discussions of subjects and current events and guest interviews. Smartyskirts (the name AND the podcast) are the brainchild of creator and host, Amanda Odum. Meant to be a gender-forward play on the term “smartypants,” the change to “sk
irts” is a tongue-in-cheek (aka ironic) reference to anyone who identifies as female. The ironic part is that the creator and the overwhelming majority of her intended audience would never, ever identify themselves as a “skirt.”
The motivation behind the smartyskirts podcast is a simple one: to create a space to have the important conversations that we aren’t having with one another enough. There are so many women out there with experiences and compelling stories that need to be shared, and so many other women who need and want to hear them.
