With Election Day coming up in the US, here is a link to the USCCB's voter's guide. It talks through a number of things to consider at length without endorsing any particular candidates.

First|Prev|Next|Last Let us look to the example of the Good Samaritan. Jesus’ parable summons us to rediscover our vocation as citizens of our respective n...

Cold's been hitting me pretty good this week so Cardinal Numbers is postponed, plan is a twofer next Sunday. Theoretically hoping to get a backlog built up to avoid such turns of fate in the next few monthy, but then again I've been trying for a podcast backlog for four years, so...

0.21h on the Gospel of John will definitely be coming in September, but I thought I'd let you know it won't be on the 1st as you may have come to expect. It's going to be massive, and I sell mattresses by day so this is the busiest time of year for me.

CN will continue normally.

If someone mocks the Eucharist, let that increase your Eucharistic devotion.

If it looks like someone was mocking the Eucharist but it turns out that wasn't the intent, let that increase your Eucharistic devotion too. Can't hurt.

Episode planned for November is looking like first half of December.

I'm already on hiatus so this is par for the course and I don't want to clutter my feed with putting a notice out in bad quality audio form like I used to, but I figured I could go ahead and send this message out across channels.

Today's episode may be delayed due to me losing track of my day job work schedule. Oops! It will be out within the next 12 hours.

“The Church alone, being the Bride of Christ and having all things in common with her Divine Spouse, is the depository of the truth.” - St. Pius X (1835-1914)

St. Pius X was the first pope elected in the 20th century on August 4, 1903. He was known for his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, his rejection of various 19th century philosophies, his initiation of the preparation of the 1917 Code of Canon Law, and his encouragement of frequent reception of the Eucharist. Pope Pius X lowered the age to receive Eucharist from 12 to 7 years old, a practice still in place today.

His patronage includes first communicants, pilgrims, and many dioceses around the world.

St. Pius X, pray for us!

Two sketches by Takashi Nagai—one of Mary assumed into heaven, and one of his wife Midori taken to heaven on the atomic cloud.

Takashi Nagai was a Japanese scientist and Catholic convert who worked tirelessly for peace. His wife was killed, along with many other Japanese Catholics, by the atomic bombing of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945.

You can read about him in Fr. Paul Glynn's book "A Song for Nagasaki: The Story of Takashi Nagai - Scientist, Convert, and Survivor of the Atomic Bomb".

One of the reasons I love talking about Cardinals is how matter-of-fact they can be about things like this:

***

Omella encouraged the faithful to “give thanks to God” and explained that “this doesn’t lead to the cause of beatification for anyone, because the Virgin is already a saint, but it is indeed a grace from God.”

He pointed out that “then the doctors will have to assess it, what it was like, if it existed, if it could be cured or not. But for now for the girl that has been a major event. Let’s say a miracle. She didn’t see and now she sees. Now the doctors will be able to say the rest, but she has gone home seeing. Well, she sees, blessed be God.”

“I opened my eyes and I could see perfectly,” said Jimena, a 16-year-old Spanish World Youth Day pilgrim.
