"Having Naomi as my mentor allowed me to work through cult-abuse trauma. I came out on the other side with a sense of freedom, overcame guilt, added tools to deal with the dynamics of the family still in the cult, and a deeper understanding of my triggers. I had been to counseling in the past; however, as helpful as that was, the counselor's lack of knowledge of cults and cult abuse kept me from moving forward. The ramifications of cult abuse are deep and wide. I'm forever grateful for Naomi's expertise in this field and her dedication and support in helping others." - RB
This is just one of the many testimonies we have received from someone who has participated in our 1:1 mentoring services with Naomi, Teasi, or Anna.
We exist to help people like RB find freedom from church hurt and spiritual abuse, as well as to prevent victimization/revictimization.
And we get it because we have been there ourselves.
If you can relate, please know that you don't have to go this alone. Visit beEmboldened.com to learn more about how we can come alongside you on your religious abuse healing journey.
We are actively seeking monthly financial supporters to ensure that beEmboldened can extend its resources to everyone seeking freedom from spiritual abuse and church hurt. This ongoing monthly support will enable us to assist more individuals promptly, eliminating the need for anyone to wait for funds before receiving 1:1 mentoring, group mentoring, or access to our curriculums.

âThey donât want your help.â
âYouâre never going to change their minds.â
Weâve heard these sentiments expressed time and time again, and yet, our inboxes beg to differ. Over 300 people have reached out to Berean Holiness just in 2024. Many are on the edge of a faith crisis as they face leaving Branhamism, Oneness Pentecostalism, the Two by Twos, Mormonism, Holiness Movements, Independent Fundamentalist Baptist churches, Amish and Conservative Mennonite churches/communities, and more.
Even if we never changed a single personâs mind, so many thousands of people are already leaving hyper-fundamentalism and cultish/unhealthy churches that thereâs a limitless opportunity to serve.
Sadly, many nonChristians are taking advantage of this under-served group. Anti-Christian âdeconstructionâ influencers abound. With just a few clicks, youâll find accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers, promoting books, curriculum, mentorship, and more, all with the goal of pushing people away from the historic Christian faith. Itâs not uncommon to see these influencers charging top dollar for their âhelpâ deconstructing. Weâve seen group courses being sold for up to $1,200 per person and talking to deconstruction counselors one-on-one can be $100s per conversation. All that to be told that Jesus isnât our Savior, traditional values are outdated (even âabusiveâ), the Bible doesnât contain objective truth, and on and on.
In sharp contrast, our goal at Berean Holiness is to offer faith-based educational resources, encouragement, support, and community to those who are disentangling faith. On top of our regular work, we just spoke at a conference (more on that soon), weâre currently developing video-based curriculum, researching for new resource directories, preparing future articles, and weâre networking to find more efficient ways to offer quality one-on-one support to those in crisis.
Going from a cultish group to a healthy, mainstream church is a huge jump. Thereâs so much unlearning, relearning, and healing that must be done, and tragically, many donât make the leap and end up leaving faith altogether. The more their life falls apart, the more likely theyâll be used by the cultish group as an example of âwhat happensâ if you leave.
Thatâs why itâs imperative we, the Body of Christ, work together to build a bridge. A bridge of faith-based resources and support leading out of the cultish groups and into healthy, faithful churches.
But we donât want a toll bridge. Believers who have grown up in cults and cultish groups have suffered enough. The last thing we want to have to do is tell them (in the most difficult season of their life), âWeâre only able to help you if you can pay us so many hundreds or thousands of dollars.â
And yet, we canât get around the fact that the quality resources we offer for free to those we serve come at a cost to Berean Holiness.
$6.75 is the average cost of a DM conversation
$50 is the average cost of a support call
$630 is the average cost of publishing a new article
$800 is the cost of an extensive resource directory
$2,000 is estimated to be the cost of developing a new video-based curriculum
We want to keep our resources no cost, or at the least, as low-cost as possible for the people who need them. Financial support from fellow believers is the only way to make this possible.
Itâs our heart to keep working, keep serving, and keep sharing the gospel of grace. Just in 2024, our small team has spent over 1,000 work hours serving those who are disentangling faith. And we want to work thousands of hours more, as well as grow our teamâonboarding staff with life experience, advanced training, and skills that we currently donât have.
Will you please consider joining us in this work as a financial partner? Weâre praying for churches and individual believers alike to see the need for this ministry and become monthly supporters.
Only when we work together can we build a bridge out of fear and shame and into the gospel of grace.

For some of us, there may always be an element of looking in through the window at what we perceive to be the happy whole and holy families. Wishing we could figure out how to have a corner on hope and happy, too. But there is no elusive âmagic formulaâ to get inside that window of belonging. The belonging comes first from healing our vertical relationship with our Heavenly Father. Thereâs always a wistful longing for that we will never have. That being said, healing relational wounding comes with healing relationally. Living in trusted community goes such a long way to accepting the unconditional love of our Heavenly Father and others.

At times, the CHM and itâs crushing weight of legalism has stood in the way of people trying to get to Christ. In this clip (which we also cover in an upcoming episode), you will hear a CHM preacher, Jeremy Fuller, talk about a tent revival where most people didnât come back because the evangelist âpreached against everything.â Pastor Fullerâs reaction: âBut thatâs alright.â How many times has it happened that someone was sitting, waiting to hear the Good News but, instead, all they heard was the trash that has been all too common on the CHM platform? No matter the denomination, legalism is wrong. Donât fall for it. There is a better way. He answered them, âIsaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines human commands. Abandoning the command of God, you hold on to human tradition.â He also said to them, âYou have a fine way of invalidating Godâs command in order to set up your tradition! You nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many other similar things.â Mark 7:6â-âŹ9â, âŹ13
Hereâs another clip that will be featured on tomorrowâs podcast. As it turns out, Redbox is also⊠you guessed it⊠wrong. Vending machines of evil, if you ask meâŠ
Jewelry, tattoos, shorts... If this CHM preacher sees someone decked out like this, he apparently wants to run up and give them a gospel tract. They must be sinners, right?? It seems that, more times than not, the CHM will determine the status of your relationship with Christ SOLELY based off your outward appearance and whether you line up with their unbiblical standard for living. Hyper-fundamentalism is a very shallow creature. Legalism is a hard taskmaster.
This is a good example of some problems I see in the teachings of the CHM. Here we have an evangelist, Bryan Spangler, going on about the evils of working out in a gym where women are present. He also warns against the dangers of letting your wife play basketball with men that are wearing shorts and tank tops. This is absurd. First of all, the CHM sexualizes everything. Things that most people would look at as completely normal, they seem to get a weird thrill from. Dudes wearing shorts and a tank top? Come on, preacher⊠I wear this costume occasionally myself, as do some of my buddies. Know how many times we have been mobbed by throngs of desire-filled women? Zilch. Because I have no idea how sweaty, overweight guys in shorts and a tank-tops would have that effect on anyone. In all seriousness, though. Stop sexualizing everything. Not everybody is trying to seduce you. The second problem that I see here is this. One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control. The teaching in this video makes it seem as if self-control doesnât exist. Generally, the CHM doesnât tell you how to control yourself. For instance, drunkenness is a sin. But the CHM that I was around told me not to go to Texas Roadhouse because they sold alcohol. Itâs a sin to lust. The CHM told me not to go to the beach on vacation because I probably couldnât handle seeing a woman in a bikini. Apparently Iâm not supposed to go to the gym either just in case there is an attractive female there. See? We never got the chance to learn self-control. Instead, we were told just to run scared from anything that could possibly lead to temptation. But I have a better idea. One that actually works pretty good! So, you see a fine-looking lady when youâre out and about? Donât stand there and lust. Act like a human being, not a dog. Treat her the way she deserves to be treated as someone made in the image of God. See a place selling alcohol? Donât get drunk. Move along. See a movie being advertis
