A Beautiful Poem:

Across the world, their hearts did meet,
A Pakistani girl, an American sweet.
Cultures apart, yet love did bind,
Their hearts beating as one, a love so kind.

With hijab on her head, and a smile so bright,
She captured his heart, in a single sight.
He fell for her grace, her beauty so rare,
And she for his charm, his love beyond compare.

Though worlds apart, their love did grow,
Through laughter and tears, they made it show.
They bridged the gap, between East and West,
Their love a flame, that forever will nest.

In his eyes, she saw a love so true,
In hers, he saw a heart, that beat for him too.
Together they'd dance, under starry skies,
Their love a fusion, of Pakistani and American sighs.

Elon Musk, the American billionaire, recently revealed his current interest in learning about Ibn Battuta, a Moroccan traveler and scholar. In a post on X, Musk recommended the "The Explorers" podcast, where he expressed his fascination with Ibn Battuta, highlighting the remarkable travels of this Islamic explorer.

Born in 1304, Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Battutah was a notable scholar and traveler of Amazigh origin. Over the course of three decades, he embarked on extensive journeys encompassing diverse regions such as North Africa, the Middle East, East and West Africa, Central and Southeast Asia, China, South Asia, and the Iberian Peninsula. Ibn Battuta chronicled his remarkable experiences in a work known as "A Gift to Those Who Contemplate the Wonders of Cities and the Marvels of Travelling," commonly referred to as "The Rihla."

Ibn Battuta's travels distinguished him as one of the most prolific explorers in the pre-modern era, covering an astounding distance of approximately 117,000 kilometers. This far surpassed the journeys of other renowned explorers such as Zheng He and Marco Polo, who covered around 50,000 and 24,000 kilometers respectively.

FATHER OF ROBOTICS: ISMAIL AL-JAZARI (1136–1206)

Ismail Al-Jazari was a polymath: a scholar, inventor, mechanical engineer, artisan, artist, and mathematician from the Artuqid Dynasty of Jazira in Mesopotamia. ‘The Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices’ is a medieval Arabic book written by Ismail al-Jazari in the 12th century. It describes over fifty mechanical devices and automata, including clocks, water-raising machines, musical automatons, and humanoid robots. Al-Jazari provides detailed instructions for constructing each device and includes anecdotes and historical references. The book had a significant influence on the development of European clockmaking and automata, offering insights into daily life and technological innovations in the Islamic world during the medieval period. It’s his book that influenced key concepts of modern-day robotics.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has recently introduced the new Li-Fi communication standard, which promises data speeds up to 100 times faster than Wi-Fi. While Li-Fi is not intended to replace Wi-Fi entirely, it offers an exciting option for ultra-fast data transfer using light-based communication.

Leading companies in the field, such as pureLiFi and Fraunhofer HHI, have already embraced this new standard. Fraunhofer HHI has demonstrated how Li-Fi can enhance existing networks by utilizing a building’s lighting fixtures. On the other hand, pureLiFi has developed the compact Light Antenna ONE module, measuring just 14.5mm in size. This module is currently being sampled by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for integration into various devices, including smartphones, laptops, and other devices that can benefit from lightning-fast data speeds. Its small size is noteworthy, as it is comparable to the space occupied by mmWave 5G antenna modules, which are already quite large and costly in smartphones.

The widespread adoption of Wi-Fi is primarily due to its convenience and range. A single Wi-Fi hotspot can provide high-speed connectivity to an entire home or office since radio waves can pe*****te obstacles. However, this advantage does not extend across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. Signals with higher frequencies, such as laser beams used in Li-Fi, can transmit significantly more data. However, the line-of-sight factor becomes crucial, as devices must be oriented correctly to ensure a clear path between the Li-Fi source and the receiver.

While Wi-Fi will continue to dominate in terms of convenience and range, Li-Fi’s lightning-fast data speeds offer an exciting new option for specific applications. Industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, and data centers could greatly benefit from the enhanced performance and security provided by Li-Fi technology.
