It’s Day 5, and today we celebrate Reading Partners Colorado! Dora Moore Elementary is one of the many schools that they support through tutoring programs. We loved reading our book to their kids and presenting with our check! We love sending our book out into the world! Today at 1:00 we get to visit Dora Moore Denver Elementary to read our book and present a check to Reading Partners Colorado and we are so thrilled!!!

On two day seven of the countdown to Christmas, and Tulip and Petunia thought it would be nice to give insight into the publishing process. Self publishing a children’s book takes a bunch of time. It’s challenging and highly rewarding but often extremely difficult to navigate. When self publishing our book we had to go through countless edits, constant issues in layout and format for the printer and charges that we didn’t see coming. Communicating your needs as an artist and writer is essential for the process to blossom in the best way possible. .
We know that many people around us likewise have dreams and ideas to self publish or publish on their own. We would love to help in mentoring or guiding anytime their questions. We don’t know close to everything, but we can help in getting the process a little closer.
Contact us if you have any questions recommendations or concerns. It is the voices of people around us that have helped our book grow. We would always love to do the same in return.

On to the eighth day of the countdown to Christmas, and Tulip & Petunia Publishing wants to express their gratitude for the amazing love and support they have received in bringing their book to fruition.
While editing creating and revising our book the emotional, monetary, and networking support made our once far-flung dream into a reality. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the process.

"Reading Partners, the 15-year-old nonprofit established in the California Bay Area, helps elementary school students who are 6 to 30 months behind in reading reach the proficiency level of their peers. Since its founding, Reading Partners has grown to serve more than 7,000 students in more than 130 schools throughout California, Colorado, Maryland, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Washington, DC."
Reading partners has an amazing success rate in improving literacy comprehension. When choosing them to donate to, we knew that the money would be well spent and make real change. This coming Wednesday the 20th, we will be visiting Dora Moore elementary to present our second donation of $1500 to reading partners. .
On to day nine and there is still time to purchase a copy for the holidays!!! .

When beginning the process of publishing Does A Giraffe Ever Feel Small, we were torn with where we should allocate our donations. We wanted the book to serve local youth and at the same time, we felt the message and style of the book lended its self for beyond the Denver area. We found Books For Africa and knew it was the right choice. Their transparency and application of funds were exactly what we were looking for and we found a wonderful project to donate funds to in South Sudan rebuilding a school since so many were lost in the civil war conflict.
The following is a note from the group working on such.
“Because of the protracted war in Sudan that lasted for many decades, social infrastructures are virtually non-existent. One of the most devastated institutions is education. During the war schools were looted and destroyed. After the peace agreement signed in 2005, life is getting back to normal but there are not enough schools for children. Children across South Sudan gather anywhere to get what they all crave: “education”. They sit on stones under the trees as makeshift classrooms; they face many difficulties including lack of learning materials and teaching aids. Western Equatoria Community Association (WECA) is working towards educational improvement for the children in Western Equatoria State; every donation for educational resources will make a difference in the life of children in South Sudan.”
