After a late night download of FSD Beta 11.3.3 Chuck captures a photo of the release notes and then retires for the night. When he gets in the Tesla the next morning he finds the release notes no longer show Park Assist as an updated feature.

---------------------------------
Chuck's video was chosen at random for use in this mockup as his video was the first 11.3.3 video to appear in the search results, and the 30 second segment used in was the first item of discussion.

The discussion is not newsworthy but an example of the look feel and pace of the video. The 30 seconds could be news from a single driver as done here, or events from more than one driver combined in a single RobotCar News 30 episode.

The opening driving montage is drawn from the same video that contained the news clip in this instance. That could become more generic in the future.

During the 30 second clip the lower third of the screen could display bullet points and/or a sponsorship message.

The end card has the video thumbnail and a link back to the video(s) from which the news event(s) was sourced. That final :15 second billboard has room for a sponsorship logo or ID.

In recent weeks a large number of beta test drivers have been reporting that FSD Beta-equipped vehicles have been making a significant number of lane choice errors. Chuck Cook found one example of repeated lane choice errors which he highlighted in the video that is the basis for this analysis.

FSD Beta's driving skill set now exceeds that of the average human driver, however recently a large number of beta test drivers have been reporting poor lane selection when driving, with the car first getting into the wrong lane and then "Changing lanes to stay on route."

A statistically significant number of U.S. streets, roads and highways have been "mapped" by mapping and navigation services. Map data errors are not uncommon, occasionally egregious, and frustrating when encountered unexpectedly. In this example, a left turn goes very wrong when Cook's Tesla turns into the center two-way turning lane first, only to "Change lanes to stay on route" immediately after. This same behavior is being seen across a wide swath of beta test drivers. in a wide range of locations across the U.S.

A look at navigation instructions for this intersection, in this example using a navigation route sourced from Google Maps, reveals that the car is behaving as instructed and literally "following directions" into an incorrect lane.

The first challenge for our Tesla ADAS-equipped Model 3 under Tesla's FSD Beta 10.4 firmware was a 3-corner roundabout 90 minutes north of Seattle, in La Conner Washington.

The drive was recorded to document the performance of Tesla's still-in-development, next-generation semi-autonomous driver assistance system.

A subsequent review of the video revealed a potentially serious issue with the map data used by today's cars with intelligent (adaptive) cruise control. In the near future, vehicles that are capable of automated driving (ie. driverless delivery vehicles) and that reference GPS-based speed limit data will be using this same data without driver supervision. The map data needs to be correct because it will eventually control the vehicle.

In this instance, the driver was in control of the vehicle throughout and paused to let traffic clear before entering the roundabout. The vehicle exited the roundabout at 25-26 mph onto a roadway with a posted 25 mph speed limit. When the video was reviewed the data error was noted, prompting the production of this video.

Opinion: A vulnerable road user positioned at the second exit would see the vehicle enter the roundabout at 10 mph and not expect the car to be accelerating to 25+ mph as it reached the second exit. Some roundabouts have sight-obstructing objects in the center which impair the driver's view of the targeted exit, making the situation potentially worse.

And roundabouts work best when everyone is at the same or similar speed. It would seem safer to have one speed limit inside the roundabout (15 mph) and then the relevant speed limit changes at the roundabout exits that match the attached roadways.
