I just recently heard the news that my college professor and advisor passed away.

He was a professor of comparative religion and was a phenomenal mentor, teacher and advisor to me as well as countless other students.

He was only 71.

His name was Rick Jarow and he was a tall, big bearded teddy bear with a low baritone voice and eyes that would squint when he smiled. He was wise but he was also funny. Never one to take himself too seriously, his humor and punch lines would emerge slowly, as if they too were bears, waking up and sleepy from hibernation. His eyes would grow large – alongside a grin – when the finish of the joke finally arrived. Similar to those sloths in Zootopia.

Jarow was nevertheless devoted to the pursuit of the True, the Good, and the Beautiful. And nowhere more than while teaching and mentoring students in the classroom. His soft teddy bear nature could turn taciturn and stern, and even flash angry when it came to the rigor of scholarship. He demanded we cultivate a clear, discerning analysis of texts. He would wage war on our arrogance, and on the tendency to think literally. Concretizing and literalizing were sins in his view, but so was reductionism or dogma of any kind. He taught us to be thoughtful, deep, and humble in the search for the truth…

Meet Tony Cicoria, who was born in Kingston, New York. He is an orthopedic surgeon and he comes on the channel to share his story of his Near-Death Experience. He left his body after being struck by lightning in a phone booth during a family gathering on Sleepy Hollow Lake in New York.

During his encounter on the Other Side he traveled outside of his body into a river of pure positive energy. In that moment he came to realize that his Spirit continues forever. A few hundred years ago a young child learned to play the harpsicord at age three.

He then began performing in front of royalty at five, traveled across Europe for concert tours at six, and wrote his first full symphony at seven.

His name was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Over two centuries later most of us can recognize his music by ear or hum one of his symphonies on cue.

How is it that certain people are born with what we call genius? When so many people struggle through life just to learn basic proficiency in art or music, or find success in any kind type of endeavor for that matter – how is it that some people are born with such talent innately, as if already fully formed? Where does it come from?

And while we’re at it, what exactly does the term genius mean anyway?

Well the word genius comes from the ancient Romans – they used the word Genius to refer to a divine being or spirit that guides and accompanies each person through life, starting at birth.

The ancient Greeks had another term – the Daimon. In fact, it was believed across the ancient world that each human came into this world with a divine spark, also known in the modern context as a soul. This in fact was common knowledge.

We decided to create a Welcome to the Channel video!

In this short 3 minute welcome, we explain why we decided to create Coming Home, a channel dedicated to Near-Death Experiences.

As brothers, we have been fascinated by NDEs for almost 20 years, and decided we wanted to help lift up people who have had these experiences. As direct personal and life changing experiences, as opposed to dogma and rigid beliefs, we think the world needs more of the wisdom and insight from this phenomena. Now, especially, more than ever - as the world is filled with uncertainty, fear, and confusion.

Let's remember our true Nature's and support each other in becoming more Loving brothers and sisters. Let's support each other in Coming Home :)
