You have SEVEN TRACKS… What is the IDEAL band composition, style, sound TO YOU?

NO combo tracks (like vocals left / instrument right).
NO swapping (like fiddle on the verses and mandolin on the chorus).
ONE track is dedicated to ONE instrument or voice for your “perfect” small band recording.

This conversation started with a question Jonathan put out in the car for our “music talk on the way home from church” discussion last night. His question was “What is your ideal 7-piece band (including vocals)?” We discussed various layouts. I’ll put them in the replies.

We both agreed that we’d like to hear our musical friends’ opinion… so I’m putting it out for discussion...

Here are some well-established layouts to generate ideas…
Bluegrass… (All Acoustic) Bass, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Fiddle, plus Lead Vocals, Harmony Vocals
Southern Gospel Quartet… Piano, Bass, Drums, plus Lead, Baritone, Tenor, Bass (Vocals)
Southern Gospel Mixed… Piano, Bass, Drums, Guitar plus Lead/Soprano, Harmony 1, Harmony 2 (Vocals)

Don’t Put those! Think of new combinations. What would sound nice? Remember only SEVEN tracks.

About us...

"I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being." (Psalms 104:33)

This is my goal in life. I made a promise to myself as a teenager that my music would always be for God's glory. Over the years I've sung in church choirs, played clarinet in a church orchestra, played drums, guitars, keyboards, anything else I could as the music director at Central Baptist Church as well as being a member of Eagle's Wings Acoustic Gospel Band.

Jonathan was also bitten by the music bug. He has played piano for several years now. He starts college this fall studying for a BS in Commercial Music Production.

We decided to do some introductory work using our home studio to get him familiar and comfortable with how the recording process works.

It turns out we really enjoy recording music together, to the point that we decided our first "real" job (for training and "exposure" of course... no money to be made here...) would be to write, arrange and record original soundtracks for Vacation Bible School at Central Baptist Church for 2022.

Our goal is to start making soundtracks and demos for anyone who is interested. We love almost every style of music as long as it is used to glorify God.

It's still at a hobby level, but we might consider turning it into a real business as we gain experience, skills, and some better equipment. For now we do the best we can with what we have.

I hope you hear something you like as we start sharing samples to this page.

We are open for business! Well... that basically means we are working for free doing soundtracks and demos for anyone who is interested (to gain experience and maybe get noticed). Here is some of what we have to work with. Samples to come later.
