Texas Indie Filmmakers Awards is an award show that offers opportunities for Independent Artists in Texas to be recognized for their contributions to Independent Projects. Our goal is to give Texas Artists a Hollywood feel by acknowledging the hard work they pour into their projects. Our goal is to provide opportunities and exposure to the talent behind the industry. This event is also a vast netw
orking opportunity created to unite artists across Texas with a significant emphasis on diversity and unifying the industry. The Texas Indie Awards ceremony was created to celebrate independent filmmakers. Our goal is to present a Hollywood experience to our Texas artists while acknowledging the hard work they’ve poured into their projects. Of utmost importance is for us to provide networking opportunities and exposure for unknown industry talent across Texas with an emphasis on diversity and unity. We understand the hard work and it takes to get noticed and make that journey that lands you in the running for an Oscar, Grammy, or Tony. We also know everyone simply won’t make it to that level and that’s where we come in. No special requirements are needed other than having produced quality material. Ladies in Film & Television is a non-profit organization that facilitates a huge networking and creative base for underrepresented and overlooked talent. You’ll also find a safe place with us. We were birthed from the rebranding of Headline Mentors & Performing Arts, which was established in 2009. As independent artists, we understand the frustration of putting your all into your projects and not having access to a platform to celebrate your greatness. This is the reason for creating this awards ceremony. We will broadcast live on our YouTube channel, “LIFT TV” and our page as well which hosts close to 5000 members all over the world and we continue to grow daily.

Why enter FilmFestivals?
I enter them to learn and grow while getting exposure for my projects. You will get many NOT SELECTED, and that's okay. This project was one of the FUNNIEST SUPPOSED TO BE SCARY MOVIES I WROTE! I am NOT A HORROR FILM WRITER! LOL!! But this was a class project and a script written in about 30 minutes honestly. I had a class that day and I was supposed to have the script and TOTALLY FORGOTTEN TO WRITE IT, so an hour before class, I had to write this HORROR Short Film they asked me for. My Horror film turned into a HORROR-COMEDY! LOL...
Because I wrote the script SO FAST! I was worried if it made sense or not and if it was scary enough. I had so many DOUBTS! This was during the PANDEMIC so we had to shoot our scenes virtually and I sent them to the AMAZING Freddie Watkins to edit for me and MAGIC was created! Not only did I NOT GET SELECTED 23 times, but I also managed to win 5 awards, including international ones.
Moral of the Story: Even when you think it's not your best work, continue to CREATE! You never know who is watching!

The 2024 application cycle for the AFS Grant for Feature Films is now open. The AFS Grant makes annual grants to film and video artists in the state of Texas—with $2.6 million in cash grants and more than $340,000 in-kind goods and services awarded to 500+ filmmakers to date.
