FOURTEEN HOURS LEFT - PLEASE SEND COMMENTS TO USDA to Help Stop Saratoga Biochar Solutions, LLC from getting a $100 million grant for its project. (THE DEADLINE for COMMENTS is midnight today July 3rd.) TO: Josef Simme, NEPA Senior Environmental Specialist by: Email: [email protected] or Phone: 540-613-1119

For those who have already sent we thank you, there is still time, several have asked for extension but still no official word. PLEASE SEND COMMENTS IN OPPOSITION to Saratoga Biochar who submitted an Environmental Assessment to USDA on June 10 related to its application for a $100 million grant from the USDA Fertilizer Production Expansion Program. USDA has determined that the proposed Saratoga Biochar project in the Town of Moreau will have no significant environmental impacts(!) On Friday, June 21 a legal notice appeared in the Albany Times Union, alerting us to the grant application, Environmental Assessment and brief public comment period. Let’s show the USDA official in charge of reviewing the Environmental Assessment that its finding of no significant environmental impact is incorrect and outrageous. With a large volume of comments, we can influence the USDA’s decision about whether to give Saratoga Biochar this ridiculously large grant. Together we can and must stop it.

Everyone, from Moreau, SGF and ALL surrounding communities; We ALL Need To Stand TOGETHER against the USDA funding Saratoga Biochar with a grant of up to 100-Million Dollars in the same way we did with DEC. and their permitting process. Mo, Jorge and I have worked for several weeks prepping to object against any and all grants SB might apply for. We REALLY NEED your voice against the USDA Grants with ours. Please scroll down to Mo's post and learn how to do this. Tell the USDA the same things you told the DEC. There is minimal time to do this. Together we can crush SB funding! Our tax $$ fund the USIDA!

I was told that Brigid is on the attack against us. That alone should let you know how important this is to SB. 100 Million of our tax dollars!!

Together we are STRONG
Thanks everyone!

Last fall I posted information that Preston Jenkins shared with me about the efforts of U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan and others efforts to get the "most Comprehensive PFAS crackdown in history" passed in the House and the Senate.

I was checking to see what is happening with that and found this article on the EPA website. Excited to see that these protections are being becoming law. YEA!

Looks like the EPA will now recognize PFAS as hazardous waste! If I remember correctly there is a Town Law that says no hazardous waste can be imported into Moreau. Im betting our officials and their crack legal support already know about this. 😊

Saratoga Biochar Solutions LLC proposes to manufacture harmful sewage sludge-derived biochar for agricultural use on a scale unprecedented in New York State

YEA!!! We have 1,056 signatures on our petitions against Saratoga Biochar ever receiving any financial incentives, tax breaks and grants that they might apply for in the future.

If Saratoga Biochar ever applies for any assistance, we will deliver these signatures to organizations such as the Saratoga County Industrial Development Agency, Saratoga Economic Development Corporation(SEDC), Saratoga County Capitol Resource Corporation, New York State Economic Development, National Grid, The NY Power Authority and every other agency that would possibly give Saratoga Biochar any assistance. We will also let every higher level elected official know we are against this and ask for their support to let these organizations know how we all feel about Saratoga Biochar locating in the center of our communities.

It may seem quiet right now but don't let that discourage you. Things are in the hands of the DEC, our elected officials and our team of 3 excellent attorneys. South Glens Falls, Hudson Falls, Fort Edward are in this fight with us. We also have Pace University's legal team and Earth Justice, CANN and more still looking out and stratigizing for us. Litigation takes time and strategy is never publicly discussed.

If you did not get a chance to sign the petitions and if Saratoga Biochar ever applies for any type of benefits, we will provide contacts so that you can email any of the organizations we send the petitions to as well as to all our elected officials as a request of support against Saratoga Biochar. Hopefully that never needs to happen.

THANK YOU Jorge Padron for setting up and monitoring the petition online objecting to Saratoga Biochar being granted any and all grants, tax breaks and any other benefit they might apply for.

THANK YOU to everyone who signed the online and in person petitions.

THANK YOU to every one who collected signatures!

THANK YOU to all the help I have received doing all of this.

We will fight until the end!

Sad to hear that Cheri and Dave are closing their store. They were willing to help us every time we asked them to share fliers, host petitions and helped us many times when other small businesses were understandably afraid of repercussions. Please share this and help them empty their shelves. Thank you Cheri and Dave. Two good people I’d like to know more than I do.

Thank you Preston Jenkins who has spent hundreds of hours researching information and reaching out from the beginning to a DEC attorney he spoke to several times and every elected official possible to speak about our fight and ask for support. Thank you Mary Jenkins, who collected hundreds of signatures and even more hours helping me tirelessly.

This is not our first battle to protect ourselves. Did you know that many years ago, past Supervisor Harry Guthiel fought hard to stop NY City “Clean garbage” from being sent to Moreau” Thank you Harry!

Thank you to Gardener Congdon, who fought hard and successfully to rescue residents from the pollution of the Cuputo Dump site.

Supervisor Fish and some of the Board Members are working with him to protect our community. They ran for office knowing there would be a lot of hard work ahead of them. No-one realized the big messes that were left behind for them to also deal with. Shame on the officials that all got voted out. Disgusting dereliction of their vows of office, including the past Town Clerks position.

We appreciate and support the hard work of all of our dedicated officials and all their efforts to make Moreau and South Glens Falls a great place to live.

I thought I should share my response to Paul Itzos question about how it could possibley be cost effective to truck sewage sludge from 200 miles away. :

If Kusnierz had gotten that rail line established it would have solved that. He was trying to also support SB with his massive efforts to push through the huge sewage pipeline to Mechanicville. $$$ and no new users to help pay for it. All paid for by current users. That sewage line could just as easily been reversed to bring sewage TO Moreau because Kusnierz was working hard and as fast as possible to pull off a deal to bring all of Saratoga and Albany County Sewage to Moreau to SB. It’s in County minutes. He did not succeed in getting the grant money for that but, another cycle of grants could have given them the money they needed. If he had succeeded in getting SB located in the industrial park and the biodigester project built that was approved by the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors. (which was controlled by 5 town supervisors with their weighted votes due to the population of their communities) awhile ago it would have helped in the next round of grants. This was a huge plan that was way beyond just Saratoga Biochar. Don’t forget Kusnierz’s attempted land sale in the Moreau Industrial Park to Twin Bridges. What a joke/presumed lie, when he said he didn’t know Casella was buying Twin Bridges. I was on the Board with him long enough to know how hugely obsessive he was on even the tiniest of details. He wanted to know every detail on everything. He admitted working with Twin Bridges for 1 1/2 years. He stated he knew how much truck traffic Casella would have daily brought down the roads past to local residents immediately upon setting their business up in the Industrial Park. (60 to 90 trash trucks= 120 to 180 Roundtrip!!!) In a news article Kusnierz said he really didn't know much about Casellas plans. I do NOT beleive him. Either way he should have learned way more about Casella's plans before he and his buddies on the Town Board sent it on to the Planning Board. This whole SB mess was about WAY more than SB. Bad Bad Bad!

Never forget when it comes time for the 2025 elections for Moreau Town Board that Kyle Noonan voted yes to all Kusnierz wanted and he continues to carry the torch for Kusnierz at our Town Board meetings. Shame on him!
