Be aware Mission CISD families! ✌️

Mission CISD Parent/Guardian,

We hope you are staying safe while coping with the aftermath of Friday night’s storm. Despite the valiant efforts of our Mission CISD maintenance crews, and the AEP and Magic Valley Electric Cooperative these past two days, some additional time will be required to complete repairs from the recent storm. Therefore, we will be cancelling school classes on Monday, May 1, 2023. Classes will resume, on normal schedules, Tuesday, May 2.

South Texas College will be closed tomorrow for dual enrollment students.

We do not take school closure notices lightly, because State and Federal Education Agencies only allow cancelling classes when school facilities or environmental factors within the campuses prohibit the opening of schools.

Many of our families depend upon the meals provided in school, and are dealing with challenges in replacing food that may have been lost due to the extended power outage. So, we are planning to provide meals. We are partnering with the City of Alton Community Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Mission to provide distribution points for grab and go student meals. Distribution details will be provided as soon as possible.

All essential district staff will be required to report to work. All Classroom Teachers will be able to take a Work Day at home. Teachers wishing to go to their school campus to pick Instructional resources must contact their school principal.

Supervisors will notify staff of their reporting status for Monday.

Please note that every effort was made to open schools, to provide that regular routine for students, while also knowing this would help so many of our working families. We appreciate your patience and support during this time and look forward to welcoming everyone back Tuesday morning.

Esperamos que se mantenga a salvo mientras enfrenta las consecuencias de la tormenta del viernes por la noche. A pesar de los valientes esfuerzos de nuestros equipos de mantenimiento de Mission CISD, AEP y Magic Valley Electric Cooperative en los últimos dos días, se requerirá algo de tiempo adicional para completar las reparaciones de la tormenta reciente. Por lo tanto, estaremos cancelando las clases escolares el lunes 1 de mayo de 2023. Las clases se reanudarán, en horarios normales, el martes 2 de mayo.

South Texas College estará cerrado mañana para estudiantes de doble inscripción.
