POST 5:

Billy and the Mini-Monsters books are written in a comic book style and they are HILARIOUS. (little boys are obsessed with Trumpet - the monster known for his stinky cheese-powered t***s.) Very Fun!

I'm thinking Pet Vet is next on our list. Here's the description: "It is Trump's job to help the sick animals and Trump's dog senses are so acute she often draws conclusions before the humans have even begun to think! Trump tells the stories of the animal patients and their families and provides young readers with animal tips, vocabulary words, and a new understanding of the animal world. All the patients are interesting, but some are more interesting than others…"

There are also some great series for princess and pony lovers!

POST 4:

I LOVE the Hey Jack and Billie B. Brown books. The author's son had dyslexia and she wrote them with him in mind as a bridge into chapter books. They have low word count per page, large font, only 4 chapters. I love that each book has a moral with it. Like in one book Billie lies to her friends and has to learn courage and to tell the truth.

If your reader has already moved through the regular Billie B. Brown series, try Billie B. Mysteries! It's got a little higher reading level, but still features our favorite friend duo - Billie B. & Jack!

Do you have a new reader in your house? Here are a few series to help them build confidence! 📚

The Read With Usborne series is one of my favorites because there are 4 levels to choose from so you can get a variety and slowly increase their difficulty. Plus most of them are stories they are likely familiar with, which will help develop their predictive skills.

I know I mentioned this earlier, but Usborne has some of THE BEST nonfiction titles around (although I may be a little biased ;) ). Our Young Beginners series is great for ages 3+. These beautiful hardback books are all at about a 1st grade reading level--perfect for early readers!

Keeping on the non-fiction theme, here is our Beginners series, great for ages 6+. (Although 3yo's also like these read to them.) These beautiful hardback books are similar to our Young Beginners but are a few grade levels higher. They average at a mid-3rd grade reading level. (A few are 2nd grade reading level, a few at early 4th grade.)

Let's talk non-fiction!

I don't know if you're like me, but when I was a kid I HATED reading non-fiction. The pictures were black and white and boring and there was always a TON of text on the page.

What I LOVE about UBAM's non-fiction titles is that they are designed to suck kids in. The graphics are vibrant and the text is broken into digestible pieces.
