WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY!

Hire a GREAT Photographer!

We all know that the number one thing about Weddings are the stills and moments that are captured in pictures!

You put them in an Album, you set them up in frames around your Home and Office maybe, and of course, everyone sees them through the lens (Yes, the pun was intended 🙂) of Social Media.

Ever since we started our Wedding business in 2019, we have had the opportunity to work with some great Photographers! They are always so kind, and easy to work with. We always like to give them credit when credit is due, so we have no problem recommending any of the photographers we have worked with…However, it is of course most important that YOU pick the right photographer!

Always ask to see any of their work, that goes without saying, but don’t be afraid to interview them to not only make sure their work is good, but also, that they are a good fit for you! Price is of course important as well, we all have budgets, but we encourage you to be willing to pay extra for a great Photographer, because these are lifelong moments that will be captured and seen for the rest of your lives…

WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY!!

Create/Set up a designated Email address for all of your Wedding correspondence!

We all know that our Inboxes are full of unread emails and spam. Some of which we never notice, and of course some we’ll never read. We’re inundated with a back log of emails!

This however will keep you organized and up to date on all correspondence. Wedding Day is, and it goes without saying, one of the most important days of our lives, and you don’t want to leave an unanswered or unseen email to chance by it getting further down the log jam of emails. A Wedding email address will make a huge difference! I always say if you are using a hashtag for your Wedding, then make that your email address as well. It’s catchy and easy to remember!!

Wedding dresses are important, but the second “dress” that will make a difference is an email (ad”dress”) 🙂

WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY!!

Read your contract! Literally, that's it, that's the tip.

It is of extreme importance that you know the details of exactly what your signing.

First, from a financial point of view, know the deposit information, the dates, the balance due period, extra charges, and so forth. Wedding can sometimes be very expensive, and you need to know exactly what you are getting for your money!

Second, and just as important: the (in details) responsibility of each Vendor you hire. Leave nothing to chance, and leave nothing that by the end of the night, something doesn't get done. Because, and I promise, the Venue WILL charge you in some way if something that was clearly a defined responsibility of yours doesn't get done. And unfortunately, the money always comes from the Bride and Groom's pocket usually through deposit money. Nobody wants that! Every penny counts towards making the day memorable and special! And of course, always ask questions if your unsure!

WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY!!

Don’t be afraid to go against the grain of “tradition.”

As Wedding professionals it is our responsibility to educate and work with our clients to ensure the BEST Wedding Day possible!

However, this doesn’t mean that every Wedding has to be done through the lens of “industry standards and traditions”. Each wedding should be unique and special to the couple. And, If that includes breaking certain traditions, IE: when the couple dances, when the couple/dinner party eats, when pictures need to be taken, garter/bouquet toss, etc…then so be it!

Yes, we know that there needs be a timeline and a certain amount of organization. It’s a Wedding and things need to flow. We get that, and all is good! However, we also advise our clients, that just because “tradition” says to do it, that doesn’t mean it HAS to be done. Brides, do not be afraid to speak up and add or delete anything in the planning process that you are not comfortable with, or just simply want to leave out. It’s your special day, and don’t give in to traditions just because you think something has to be done…

Be Creative!…Make It Your Own, and most importantly, Have Fun and Enjoy The Day!!

WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY!

DJ Placement

I wanted to touch base today on a subject that I have both directly and indirectly been affected by. The placement of the DJ…

We know without any doubt or hesitation that the special day is all about the couple! They at every point should be the center of attention!

However, (Did you hear the breaks just screech?)…if a couple has decided to hire a DJ (and we highly recommend us of course 🙂) then where the DJ is placed is of high importance! We need ample space, easily accessible power outlets, and a clear defined space for dancing. I’ve seen DJ’s shoved into a corner or “whatever space is left” after everything is setup. For DJ’s, at least the ones I’ve talked to, and myself personally, it’s like “nails on a chalkboard.” Yikes!

A good DJ can make or break a Reception. Keep in mind, a DJ is not just about playing music. A DJ is an emcee, facilitator of games, table caller, announcement maker, and keeper of the timeline making sure everyone is on track…Managing a Wedding, Reception, and a Music timeline is not as easy as it sounds. There are lots of moving parts and pieces…

That was the case, so here’s the tip…

When you are planning your Wedding and looking to choose a Venue, while reviewing your vision for the seating chart, make sure the DJ has a clear and present “presence” in the room. Trust me, the couple we love it, the guests will love it, and of course, the DJ will have the gift of space and movement to make the night special and to make fun memories for everyone!!!

From New Year's Day 2021! Honored to serve as Day of Coordinator for Zack and Caroline! This was one of our favorite Weddings so far! Zack and Caroline were a terrific couple and their families are some of the nicest, caring, and most welcoming people we have ever been around. Again, it was an absolute honor...Blessings to Zack, Caroline and their families!

Also, thanks to the staff at 105 Worth Center in Asheboro...great Venue to have a Wedding and great staff that made it possible!

Special shout out to The Real DJ B for keeping the party going!

WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY!

Put yourselves in time out!

We all know weddings are hustle and bustle for the Bride and Groom. You may have hired the best Planner, DJ, Caterer, Photographer in the world...However, that doesn't mean your day won't be stressful and sometimes getting pulled in different directions. Wedding 101 is ENJOY THE DAY/HAVE FUN! After all, it's about you--the couple!

Here's where the self-imposed time out comes in. Do not be afraid to put yourselves in time out. Take 10 to 15 minutes at least once, or twice if you can, and just go outside, sneak off somewhere and just take a breather, do a reset, and go back in and let loose! Always have fun, always soak the day in, but never be afraid to put yourselves in time out! It will definitely help!

WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY!

Never be afraid to ask TOO MANY questions!

We of course speak to couples all the time, and one of the things they say is: “we hope we’re not bugging you for ask so many questions…”

We’ll, First of all, I promise you are not “bugging” us at all! We want and welcome ALL questions while also encourage taking good notes!

Second, both Bride/Groom and Wedding Professional have one shot to get it right. There are no “do-overs” for Wedding Day. As I wrote on a previous post, using radio terminology, no one wants “dead air” at a Wedding. (Meaning at one point, or several points during the day and both Bride/Groom and Guests look around and go “why is it quiet and what do we do next?) You definitely don’t want that! But, you know what causes that? Simple: A question didn’t get asked, or a question didn’t get answered.

Always, Always, Always ask questions!

That’s what we’re here for, and that’s what you’ve hired your Wedding Professional for!
