I am just so excited for Week 11 Session of our Youth Infusion 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱™ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺. Our young girls will be learning from two powerhouses ....two women who are entrepreneurs, are driven and have built successful businesses. They are teaming up to show these girls that their voices are powerful. Through podcasting and video production, they will have discussions with Susan Vernicek-Berkowitz and Samantha Washington.

Susan will be speaking with the girls through podcasting and the topic is 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙎𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙇𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨.

Sam will be speaking to the girls through video and the topic is 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙨 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧.

These young girls have built strong bonds and trust and we are just 1 week away from their celebration so this specific activity will build on all they have been learning in the past 11 weeks, through their connections with one another and with the women speakers who have shared about their businesses and their experiences and have guided them through specific activities that have touched on youth voice, building confidence, being kind, feeling strong and brave and so much more. Each week, they learn something new from the connection to their community.

Isabella Morales and I spent the day in New York training educators on Podcasting and how to use podcasting to teach Social Emotional Learning. This was part 2 of the training where they learned how to set up and use the podcasting equipment.

Part 1 was learning the Podcastig Curriculum for Middle School Students. I’m so excited Youth Infusion was able to work with ExpandED Schools to make this all happen.

We can’t wait to listen to future episodes created by all the middle school students participating in the program.

Girls in the Windows, 1960.

This iconic photograph shows 43 women in colorful clothing posing in 41 windows of a condemned brownstone building in Manhattan.

It was the summer of 1960, and photographer Ormond Gigli was working in his studio on 58th Street, across the street from a group of brownstones that were about to be demolished. The windows had been removed and Gigli had an idea of photographing a group of women, one in each of the window openings, wearing formalwear.

The demolition supervisor agreed to let Gigli go ahead – as long as his wife could be in the photograph. Gigli could shoot the next day during the worker’s lunch hour. When the workers returned after lunch, the building would be pulled down.

Gigli and his staff only had 24 hours to plan the photo, find volunteer models to pose for the shot, and get permission from the city. There was a gaping hole in front of the building so they also located a Rolls-Royce to sit on the sidewalk in front.

Word went out to local modeling agencies, and plenty of people volunteered to take part. The sun shone, the weather was lovely, and the photo shoot took an hour. After the photo was taken, the models left, and the building came down.

She is also the Executive Director of LGBTQPride. Catherine's motto is "Changing Minds and Changing Hearts".

It's been a year since our last podcast episode was published and we needed this year to go through the changes and transitions. Alegria and Elika have 3 episodes that were not released but recorded in 2021. Those episode will be released shortly within next week or so.

Life happens and we have been through a whirlwind of change and have decided that moving forward, Elika will be hosting the HER Podcast on her own.

Elika and Alegria are close friends and Alegria promises to join the conversation every once in awhile. We are excited about a relaunch of the HER podcast and can't wait to start interviewing the amazing women who are driving change and speaking up! We can't wait to provide a platform for thought provoking, authentic conversation and healing.

Hello to our beautiful listeners! Alegria Sita Amor and I have a big announcement. We are taking our podcasting to the next level. We've talked to so many women who have said they have always wanted to start there very own podcast but were scared and really didn't know where to start. Alegria and I have truly enjoyed interviewing so many women on our H.E.R! Heal, Empower, Rise Podcast and we are often asked about how we got started and if it's hard.

Well, let's just say that we made some mistakes and we've learned so much about podcasting and we want to share that with you! We have been working on a "Podcast Made Simple" course. We still don't know if that will be the actual name when we are all finished but we know it's going to have just what you need to take that first step and get your podcast started and everything in between.
