It was a momentous occasion on Monday, June 10, as Metropolitan Airport News Editor-in-Chief Julia Lauria Blum had the privilege of representing the legendary pilot Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Cochran. She was being honored with her induction into the prestigious Long Island Aviation Hall of Fame, a testament to her significant contributions to aviation. The ceremony took place at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, New York.

Moving forward and away from hardship and poverty as a child, Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Cochran reinvented herself, came to New York City, and became one of the greatest aviators of the 20th Century.

JetBlue today reinforced its role as “New York’s Hometown Airline” by announcing it will launch service for the first time from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) with tickets on sale today. Starting this October, JetBlue will begin offering flights to Orlando International Airport (MCO), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI). This new service aims to help better serve the many loyal JetBlue customers living on Long Island, providing them with more convenient travel options to popular destinations in Florida.

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) and ASAK Solutions led an effort, in collaboration with the JFK Air Cargo Association, to bring Fordham’s Edge4Vets program to NY airports. The program prepares and connects veterans to jobs that can lead to air cargo careers.

The goal of Edge4Vets is to accelerate military veterans' National Guard, transitioning soldiers and spouses into the airports’ workforce.

JFK Millennium Partners (JMP) and Aer Lingus announced that the airline will make Terminal 6 its new home at JFK and begin operations on the first day of the Terminal’s opening to passengers in early 2026. In addition, Aer Lingus will open a new signature lounge in Terminal 6 for its passengers, providing a modern state-of-the-art space with greater seating capacity, ensuring more comfort and space for Aer Lingus customers.

Aer Lingus currently operates twice daily nonstop service from JFK Terminal 7 to Dublin and daily to Shannon, Ireland.
