*National Lok Adalat held in District Ganderbal.*

District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal held National Lok-Adalat today on 11th of December, 2021 (Saturday) in the District under the directions of National Legal Services Authority and J&K Legal Services Authority. Three Lok-Adalat Benches were constituted, Two benches were constituted at Ganderbal, Ist Bench was presided by Ms. Shazia Tabasum, Pr. District & Sessions Judge Ganderbal and other member was Ms. Tabasum, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, 2nd Bench was presided by “Ms. Umi Kulsoom”, Chief Judicial Magistrate/Sub Judge Ganderbal and other member was “Ms. Fakhur-Un-Nissa”, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Ganderbal. and 3rd Bench at kangan was presided by “Shri Kartar Singh”, Munsiff/JMIC Kangan and other member was Sohail Ahmad Mir, Advocate, who took up the identified matters for amicable settlement. The National Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Ganderbal Ms. Shazia Tabassum. Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal “Ms. Tabasum” coordinated the National Lok Adalat.
Many pre-litigation matters like PMAY Scheme, Public Utility service matters etc pertaining to people belonging to inaccessible areas as declared by Government of J&K as in accessible area were taken up before the said National Lok-Adalat and were settled through amicable settlement. The cases of these people were received while conducting Door to Door Campaign by PLVs of District Ganderbal.
Bench No. 01 in association with Department of Labour & Employment Ganderbal through Assistant Labour Commissioner Ganderbal Mr. Sheikh Murtaza provided educational assistance to the children of almost 518 labourers, an amount of Rs 37,70,000/- disbursed to the labourers by virtue of the cheque.
A total number of 490 cases were taken up before the said National Lok Adalat Benches, out of which 263 Cases were settled through amicable settlement. An amount of Rs 48,66,125 were realized as settlement amount in different nature of cases.

CDS Gen Bipin Rawat, wife among 13 dead as IAF chopper crashes in Tamil Nadu

New Delhi/Nilgiris, December 8: Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other persons on board an Indian Air Force helicopter died in an accident on Wednesday near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu, the IAF said

"With deep regret, it has now been ascertained that Gen Bipin Rawat, Mrs Madhulika Rawat and 11 other persons on board have died in the unfortunate accident," IAF tweeted.

"Gp Capt Varun Singh SC, Directing Staff at DSSC with injuries is currently under treatment at Military Hospital, Wellington," it added.

Nilgiri's Collector earlier said 13 of the 14 occupants of the IAF helicopter that crashed in Tamil Nadu have been killed and there is one survivor, a male.

The IAF said a Court of Inquiry had been ordered into the accident, involving a Mi-17VH choppper that took from the Sulur IAF station in nearby Coimbatore.

There were 14 people, including the pilots, on

board.

DLSA Ganderbal organized Women Empowerment through Legal Awareness

GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 02:
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, organized Progamme on “Women Empowerment through Legal Awareness” in Collabration with National Commision of Women and Women Empovernment Committee CUK at Green Campus, Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal today.

In the event Vice Chancellor CUK Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Registrar CUK Prof. Afzal Zargar, Prof. Parveen Akhtar Pandit, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal MS Tabasum, Assistant Professor Gulafroz Jan, Advocate Ms. Sabeena Naveed and Member Secretary, WEC, CUK Dr. Himabindu, Staff of DLSA, Teachers from Education department, Faculty Members of CUK and PLVS of Ganderbal also participated in the said programme.

The theme and aim of Programme was introduced by Assistant Professor Dr. Himabindu.

Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Vice Chancellor CUK in his presidential address Stated about the women empowerment and the role of DLSA’s in different sections of society. He further added that the main focus of DLSA is to provide services to Marginalized and weaker sections of society. He highlights the issues related to women and provide information about women’s rights.

He further added that equality is possible if we start from our homes. We should change our attitude and behavior towards women’s. He also highlighted points regarding equality between genders. He further said that more and more such kind of programmes shall be conducted in future so that the society as a whole gets benefitted.

While speaking on the occasion, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal “Ms. Tabasum” highlighted the role of District Legal Services Authority in General and purpose of coordinating with various institutions and the universities for conducting of various programs more particularly awareness regarding “Women Empowerment” so that the message reaches to every corner in the society. She further about the beneficiaries who are entitled to Free Legal Aid in terms of Section 12 of the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987.

She said Women Empowerment implies the ability in women to take decision with regard to their life and work and giving equal rights to them in all spheres like personal social, economic, political, legal and so on. She said we are living in an age of women empowerment where women are working shoulder to shoulder with men. It is true that women to a large extent do not face discrimination in society today. Unfortunately many of them face exploitation and harassment like emotional, physical, mental and sexual. She deliberated upon the intervention of the court with various matters of women empowerment and passing of both important judgments by the Supreme Court in favour of the women.

Registrar, CUK Prof. Afzal Zargar in his address stated that we should understand women plays an important role in every sphere whether It’s professional or personal. They become the pillars of our society. He highlighted the “Rights of Women. He said that the main aim of DLSA’s is to reach to weaker sections of the society and help them to solve their issues. He further highlighted various legislation passed by Parliament time to time related to Dowry and other violence regarding women’s. He also highlighted the DLSA’s role by providing free Legal Aid to those women’s who are sufferers of various forms of violence.

Prof. Parveen Akhter Pandit, Joined virtually and highlighted the issues related to women and equality between genders. She further stated that we should empower women in every field especially economically. She said we should avoid discrimination regarding gender.
Assistant Professor Ms. Gulafroz Jan, highlighted “Constitutional Provisions regarding women empowerment. She stated that the women empowerment should began at home. There should be no discrimination by the parents towards their children. The male & female child should be treated equally then only it is possible to achieve the proper results at the women would be empowered in real sense. Further she stated the education is the best and important role by which women can be empowered.
Advocate Ms. Sabeena Naveed provide information about “Domestic Violence” against Women. She provided information about the safeguards provided to the destitute ladies.
At last Vote of thanks was presented by Assistant professor Ms. Saima Basheer. The purpose of the conducting of this Legal Awareness programme was to educate women empowerment should began from home and in case of any harassment or violence being faced by any female should not go unreported.
